I had two bucket O machete a couple of years ago. I brought them out when the entire extended family was over on Christmas Day. I announced that every adult male member gets a machete. Guys were lined up inspecting and horse trading machetes for an hour. A couple of the ladies wanted one as well, so they got to select one too. I heard compliments about those for the next two Christmases. I didn't tell anyone how cheap they were. My Haitian DIL got so excited when I showed her the bucket. She grabbed one like the one she had growing up. Within 10 minutes, she was out in the woods whacking bushes and everything else. She even took a pic and sent to her mom in Boston. Her mom was like WTF?

Out of the batch I bought from that place one was barely passable to keep, one is a loaner I won't worry about getting back and the other three are in the scrap pile for use as flat stock for a future project.

Total waste of money if you want a real machete.

What are we using machetes for, OP?

For trails or clearing blackberries, a battery powered hegemony trimmer is my new best tool.

Because a 60v battery chainsaw spins up instantly with huge torque and no idle noise to alert the victim like a gas chain saw.

On the average 10,000 acre Arfcom ranch they're all too far from electricity to recharge so a machete is the clear choice.

What are you hacking at?  Trails I assume?

I bought one in 2015 to clear some brush from around my house.  I have not touched it since.  I really don't see much use for one.  Power tools work faster and easier.  For offensive/defensive purposes, buy a good sword and join a HEMA group.  A good swordsman will drop someone with a machete every time.

Might I suggest that you get a liquor license too.

You would sell beer and machetes along beaches at lakes, at school basketball games, and just in the neighborhoods on weekends and holidays.

Modellos and Machettes.

it's rare to see a normal human female sized and shaped female in the RGV.

my favorite dive bar in the RGV back in the day used to have a little white chickysnack gymnast type working there.

let's pretend my favorite dive bar is called "The Bah."

there was a facebook page at the time called "I'm In Love With The Waitress At The Bah."

Can someone please find a link or post a How - to on how to sharpen these damn things?  They are super rough out of the box.  Basically lawn mower blade sharp.  I have tried bench grinder, file followed by sharpening stones, and none of them are as sharp or have as nice of a cutting surface as I would like.  Anyone!!!

It’s a machete not a razor.  If you use it you will hit the occasional rock or tree, and often the dirt.  Don’t over think it. Sharpen it w/ a smooth grindstone taking care not to burn the edge and maybe a few strokes w/ a file.  You aren’t going t butcher a deer w/ it and a courser more chisel shaped profile in conjunction w a thin blade will last longer and work just as well for the tasks a machete excels at.  Let the weight, speed, and thin profile do the work.

I don't have anything that was represented to be a machete.

I do have an old, old corn knife out in the garage, which is apparently the product of convergent evolution. The several that were stuck away on the farm when I was a kid were the subject of some confusion when I started asking the older generations about the reason why they had some machetes in one of the outbuildings where they stored old, outmoded stuff.
