Still holds the world single jet engine speed record after 55 years.

Could be flown from it's home base to up near the arctic circle, make missile attacks (conventional or even nuclear) on Russian bombers and returned to its home base by remote control (SAGE).  This was back in the 60's that we had this capability.

I remember ready by about those in a book that was given to me when I was a kid. It was a Time Life series and that particular book was about air mercenaries. Those little guys put a hurt on Nigerian forces in Biafra's futile fight for independence. It was a swede that developed the idea.
