Reading comprehension must be at an all time low here.
"Working our butts off to get ready for the grand opening" "we had a large guy come in doing a videotape in a threatening manner" Are they open to the public or not? Either the employee was in a closed to the public shop and was told to remove their hat because the owner didnt like the hat, which may or may not be covered by NE's employment laws. If the guy filming was real and the shop wasn't open to the public yet, he was clearly trespassing, assuming anyone told him to leave and he refused. Or the shop was open to the public and guy was just a customer filming his experience and the owner called the cops because they didn't like the fact someone was filming inside their store. I dont believe her there was someone filming inside their closed shop. Open to the public ? Ya, that's entirely believable. ETA: they're clearly not open to the public https://www.facebook.com/shopstf/ 25mins ago they posted a pic of bare shelves and said they're stocking candy .....so an employee in a closed to the public location is told to remove their hat + rando off the street comes in and films inside the closed location. All I see in this thread is a bunch of "principled conservatives taking the high road" who still havent fully learned to fight fire with fire. |

If it wasn't covered in the employee handbook/orientation regarding clothing with words, it may or may not be a good firing under NE state law. "Make America Great Again" isn't a strictly Trump political slogan. |

She stated that she was running as a non-partisan but received $60,000 from a PAC pushing green energy and DEI, then refused to address it. Other employees were allowed to wear political garb. Also the hat was made in the store it was worn in.

View Quote Hence why the company’s insurance will pay said employee a quiet settlement where she doesn’t have to work again. The owner’s business will likely suffer greatly as the FAFO rule was applied. If she can demonstrate other employees were allowed to wear, presumably Dem related clothing, the owner is fucked as it should be. Keep your politics out of the office should be the lesson here for everyone. |

It sounds as though the owner is an Omaha liberal that moved to a red area.
Once this incident occurs, the owner calls on her Blue Omaha friends to give the store positive reviews. Hastings is about 170 miles - 2.5 hours from Omaha. No one is driving from Omaha or Lincoln (over 100 miles) to the store. The people of Adams County (where Hastings is) don't read reviews for businesses. Reviews in rural NE are based on word of mouth. Adams County, NE voted 70% for Trump. Regardless of the reasoning, the owner has probably pissed off 70% of the potential customers There are less than 30,000 people in Adams County. Most of the surrounding counties voted in even higher numbers for Trump. Guy that beat her for mayor got over 55% of the vote I give the business 6 months. Fun fact - Hastings, NE is were Kool Aid was invernted. |

Leaving one star reviews is free speech. No rules against that.

I can understand wanting your business to remain neutral. There is no profit in making an enemy of half the country. As a Trump supporter, I'd have asked her to take the hat off too. I have deep political beliefs, but my business does not. It exists to make money and the dem's cash is as green as anyone else's.
