When I read "she's gotta smile" this is where I thought the thread was going
Stephen Lynch - She Gotta Smile |

epic song, epic drama with the band, epic unexpected covers.
i got a kick out of the funk and bluegrass versions. Need to have YoYo Ma and Weird Al team up for a cover |

G n' R is still my favorite band since I first heard them during the summer before I started 5th grade in 1987. I remember we were taking a road trip up north and my older sister (going into 8th grade) had the tape and our mom finally let us eject her stale Fleetwood Mac Tango In The Night tape that she'd been bumpin' for months (now I actually like that Fleetwood Mac record). She was like, "Guns n' Roses? What is it guys and girls in the band"? We just laughed at her. My sister stopped listening to bands like G n' R a year later...what a fairweather, fake ass fan.
Back when I still rapped and was recording music, around 1995-96 or so, I interpolated Sweet Child O' Mine and I Keep Forgetting (Michael McDonald) in a song. It was a pretty dope track. |

One of my favorite songs and awesome lyrics. Particularly "she got eyes of the bluest skies as if they thought of rain."

There are many instances where feel and sound are more important. The feel and emotion that Slash exhibits on numerous songs cements him as one the greatest guitarists of all time. His overall tone and examples of riffs and solos make the case. His image and style complete the equation. He's a bona fide icon and you all know it. https://http2.mlstatic.com/slash-top-hat-cartola-couro-veludo-sem-uso-oportunidade--D_NQ_NP_11248-MLB20040846809_012014-F.jpg View Quote The first guitar solo in Estranged is a perfect example. Not super fast or difficult, but you can FEEL it. It's like a 10 minute song, so most of you children probably don't have the attention span to make it that far. Guns N' Roses - Estranged |

Maybe Netflix will make a movie similar to The Dirt about GnR...I'd watch. Maybe.
What am I thinking, Netflix would probably fuck it up. |

GnR is one if the greatest of all time. Sure they had issues but fuck Apetite for Destruction is at least on the top 5 greatest albums of all time. Perfect album.

He wasn't a crazy "shredder", but much like was discussed in another thread, his timing is impeccable. "Sweet Child O' Mine" has one of the most iconic intro riffs of all time; upper there with "Voodoo Chile", "Highway to Hell", "Layla", "Should I stay...", etc. The timing/buildup of his solo in "SWoM" is amazing. I also love how he's not afraid of the low register on this instrument. I remember back in the late 90s he was a guest player with the David Letterman band. He completely changed the entire band/feel. |

At 41, with a 15 year old and 18 year old, we took in a 7 week old baby boy. Have guardianship, and am trying to adopt him. He's 17 months old now. Total daddy's boy. Found early on, he love's music. From a couple of months old, didnt matter how much he was crying, if he heard me say "Alexa, play Sweet Child O' Mine", he would quit crying. He would stop when he heard the music, but now he doesnt even have to, cuz he knows whats coming.

I highly recommend reading slash's biography. The reason he gave for figuring out he needed his own place was hilarious.

G-N-R was one of the best concerts I ever attended.
Later, G-N-R was one of the worst concerts I ever attended. Multiple concerts, and only the first was enjoyable. That one was apparently before Axl Rose's ego became an issue. Some little place south of Columbus Ohio. Circleville or some shit. Skidrow opened. Great show all around. Last show was just that. Swore I'd never go to another G-N-R show. Hoosier Dome, Indianapolis Indiana. Faith No More, Metallica and G-N-R in that order. Faith No More was OK. Metallica absolutely ROCKED the place. After their set...nothing for what felt like several hours. Then G-N-R finally came out. They sounded good...when they were playing. Which was not enough. Axl Rose seems to have thought everyone came to hear him expound on his opinions of anything and everything. During these times the rest of the band just stood around looking pissed. After Metallica, all they had to do was come out, do a decent show and it would have been icing on the cake. Everyone happy. Instead, a sold out Hoosier Dome was booing the main act during dickheads speeches. |
