It was time for our semi annual quals so I thought I would post the two weapons I used this year (Non uniform, off duty get to carry their own).  If you want to carry a revolver you have to shoot one for qualifications, same with semi autos. This year my choice was a Caspian .38 Super Titanium Commander that has been in the building process for about 5 years and is now finished.  The 629 three inch is a 629-1 I have had and carried for about the last 15 years normally during cold weather.
The range master wanted to try them both so the target has a few extra holes in it than a normal shoot (only rounds touching the line or out count).
Got photos of your off duty carry?

This or getting a case of concrete rash on it.

I understand the not wanting to mess up the weapons but, I would rather take that chance than have weapons I don’t trust to function or have enough  accuracy. One of my reoccurring nightmares when I started as a LEO was having to shoot and a firearm that would not fire. This was after I got a new Model 19 mailed to the office and while shooting a week after getting it I fired 6 rounds and it stopped working.  You could not open the cylinder, rotate the cylinder or get it to fire the six new rounds in it.

.38 super is my favorite round period.  Real close ballistically to the .357 sig, but MUCH, MUCH more controllable.

I wouldn't worry about rain or concrete either, a working guns a working gun.

+1 on the super.  My dad has a Sig 220 in 38 super that will someday(hopefully a far distant day) be mine.  I have a friend with a custom shop smith revolver in 38 super that I have been trying to get off of him for quite some time.
