Messing Around w/ X-5 & Tracer Shoot

Complete in it's lightly edited goodness!

Screwing around on the range. There's some tracers from a HK53 at the end.

Disclaimer: I am not Jerry Miculek, Rob Letham, or Todd Jarrett. I've only shot twice since my last video (So I'm even slower than usual). I tried to record hits but the camera can't pick up that kind of detail. I'm shooting head shots when I'm going slow (and with the one shot draws) and A-zone body hits going faster.

Thanks for shareing.

I always found the way tracers ricochet interesting. Very unpredictable.

Video needs a soundtrack.  You set the bar when you used "Fire" a while back.

If anyone cares to put 03 down, please post YOUR video when bashing.

I like the vid!  Your question regarding weather the tracers will light or not seems to be answered some what (different thread).  Although not consistent it looks like the short barrel lights em' up.  I have a thousand or two .223 20% light tracer tips that I bought from Hi-tech ammo.  From the hundred or so that I've reloaded and shot the number you had light in your vid is about consistent with what I saw (20" barrel AR .223).  Some times I saw a nice string of 8-10 that light others time I saw some spotty patches with few that lit.  In any case tracers are a blast and it looks like you had fun!

A lot more than 20% lit. I'd put the number around 60-70%. It was my first and last time shooting tracers there. The ground was wet but after seeing how powerfully these things burned, we didn't want to start a fire. They'd hit the backstop and randomly fly into trees and leaf piles.

They don't look that powerful in the video but they look and sound like road flares.

I've got 2970ish of them left so I'll probably save them for a tracer friendly group shoot or shoot them under 50 yards.

Wimpy 9mm reloads. I load everything I shoot.

Thanks!

It costs too much for what it is but I like it. If you want something like it, save a few hundred dollars and get the Sig Elite. The price tag of the X-5 AAR isn't really justified and you have to pay an extra $100 for the SRT conversion. The Elite comes with it and the AAR's extra few inches isn't worth the extra money.

That's going to have to wait till the next one. I was planning to shoot a video but I decided to put more time into helping the new shooter heard commenting in the vid ().

I built a steadycam mount out of pipes and weights for $15 at Home Depot. I'll be using it for the next video. It works pretty well!

I appreciate the comments guys!
