A coworker is looking for his first pistol, which will be primarily for carry. I've got him headed to a CCH class this weekend, as long as there are slots open still. I was planning to take him gun shopping, but he and his son hit a gun store this weekend and he said he really liked the 320sc. He said it felt nice in his hand. I have no experience with this model and haven't heard much discussion on it. Again, he's new to pistols; maybe firearms, in general. What is the consensus here? Aside from the 8700 "Glock 19" or "1911" responses I'll get , what do we need to know about this gun? Problems? GTG?I'm taking him shooting on Thursday. I wanted him to shoot a few other guns first, and try out some various triggers and actions before he bought it. I'll have him shoot my Glock 19, Beretta 92FS Compact & wife's PX4sc 9mm. If he wants to try .45, he'll use my SA 1911 and XDS45.
Going to look into the ranges around town to see if anyone has the P320sc 9mm for him to try out as well. He will be the second friend in a week's span that I've helped buy their first gun, and talked into getting their CCH. ![]() |

Quoted: From what I've read, the 320 is a nice gun. A lot of people like it. I've heard it had a long trigger pull, like Wtf long, but it's smooth and consistent. Never shot one but it's on my short list. Price is right, too, for a first gun |

I haven't heard a single bad word about the P320. It's on my "sorta want" list, even though I really don't need another pistol. This is me exactly. I have no use for one, but I keep wanting to try one at the range. If I like it, I'll probably get a 9mm compact for the hell of it. |

Their sniper training video is pretty good, too. |
| If the 320 existed when I bought my G19 likely I would have gotten a 320. I've never shot one but those I know that have love it plus aftermarket trigger jobs reduce the pull and clean up the action quite a bit. Nothing wrong with the 320 for fist gun and carry but holster choice might be a bit thin right now. |

Where can I get some googly eyed targets? |

I'm switching to the P320 from glocks for off duty carry. My agency is also switching to the 320 from the 228.
What's cool about it is, he's not buying a subcompact, he's buying a gun that can be a full size to a sub compact. Also the best out of the box striker fired trigger anywhere! |

| I would tell your friend that the sub-compact is very unnecessarily small. The 320c in 9mm is roughly the size of a Glock 19, which is to say not a real hassle to conceal, nor much harder than the next size down. However, with a 4 inch barrel and 15 + 1 on tap, it is a great all 'rounder for a guy who is only going to have 1 gun. |

I have two of the p320's, a 9mm and 40.
Very good model, accurate and reliable for the most part. The 9 functions great but my 40 has two factory mags that do not like Remington practice ammo but functions flawlessly with defense ammo. Both guns have had three hundred jhp's run through them with no issues. I currently have grips in carry, compact and subcompact. Have your friend buy a compact model then get a subcompact frame.this will give him more option with configurations. With x grip adapters, the subcompact can use compact and full size mags. My personal carry con figuration is the compact for every day carry, carry grip with full size mags for around my deer camp to take care of varmits and subcompact with the carry slide for hot weather under a tee shirt. Btw the p320 replaced my g19 for carry. The g19 is the answer the front door gun when someone knocks. |

I got the compact as my first pistol and I'm glad I did. It is everything I wanted it to be. 600 rounds so far and not an issue.
He can always put the subcompact grip on the compact slide. It might be the small grip that he liked. The compact comes with the medium and the subcompact comes with the small. Either way some think the modularity is a gimmick but it really can let you make the gun fit your wants and needs exactly. |

There is very little meaningful size difference between the medium 320 and a 19 How much difference is there in the small vs medium frames and which does the subcompact version ship with? I've read all come in medium but also read the SC ships with small. ETA nvm as I see my ships with question was answered 2 posts prior. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The 320 in an excellent choice, and thats coming from a Glock AND 1911 guy... I would strongly agree with the last couple of posts that suggest getting the compact over the sub-compact, and then getting a sub-compact grip module and a couple of mags... it will certainly make for a more versatile gun.. My only complaint is a lack of holsters to chose from. I got an IWB from StealthgearUSA and a OWB from JM Customer Kydex... If Comp-Tac had making the MTAC when I was looking for an IWB like they are now, I may have gone that route... |

Ill keep my Khar PM9 You must have a better one than my turd. Light primer strikes and FTFs were way too common. I was happy to get $100 trade in for a Sig P290. To stay somewhat on topic, I don't know about the 320 but initially I'm impressed with the 290. Compact, reliable, and accurate, once you get used to the long trigger pull. Extended mags are pricey but they're worth it. |

Thanks, guys. I made a few notes to take along. I will have him check out the Compact, and mention buying the SC frame/mags. I did a search just now though and am not finding any SC X-Change kits though, only Compact and Full Size. I know the SC gun is out there, but are the kits not? |

Love mine. Carry it every day.

Don't know what Sig was thinking--like they were trying to create a big enough grip to accommodate a triple stack mag or something. Would seem to be a distinct disadvantage to conceal for a carry piece. I couldn't get past the grip and didn't even bother trying the trigger. Sigh....
