Dog just got sprayed.  First time we've ever had a dog get sprayed by a skunk in all the years we've owned dogs.

Of course, I don't have any tomato juice or peroxide in the house and the stores don't open for another 30 minutes.

I've heard the stuff Tractor Supply sells works good, Natures Miracle. I've always used peroxide but I'm thinking of trying the other.

Trying it.

Can't tell if it's working or not.  My nose is about dead to the smell.

Been there done that and it sucked. White vinegar in bowls inside the house if the house smells. Had pretty good success with the peroxide/dawn/baking soda mixture. My dog got it right in the face so every time her face got wet it re activated a little.

Yup, used this 3 times on my dogs, works good enough to get rid of most of the stink.

You would think they'd have learned after the first time

I'm not sure how that would help.  Do they make a doggie douche?

Tomato juice is bullshit.  Remember that much, man.
Any pet owner should stock skunk-defunker, especially if you're in the deep suburbs or rural area.
Any dog that goes outdoors is going to get sprayed eventually.

LOL.........no. Mine got it two mornings straight from the same skunk at the same place along the fence. On the thrid morning I inspected the perimeter before I let him out. Neighbor has a bird feeder about 2 foot off the ground and he was getting his meals there.

playing with the puppy on a chain last night, old lady push mowed about 100 square feet on the left side of the yard, and came back to the middle of the yard, and then we all smelled it. I'm pretty sure he's under my shed and made a break for the big horse field once she cleared out with the mower.
He dies tonight at sundown.

Dawn dish soap, peroxide and baking soda, followed up with two washes using his regular shampoo, did the trick.

This.  Buy Summers Eve or similar women's douche.  We've used it on slinky dogs and it neutralizes the odor on contact.  Rinse dog with water first then rub the douche in.  Sounds funny but the most effective thing out there
