Do all skunks spray if you shoot them in the head? I have 3 digging up my yard. I bought a kickass pellet gun for my little problems. Please keep to the topic. Can't us a firearm, houses are to close.

I've shot five in the head.  All sprayed prodigiously while flipping around.  I'm a slow learner.

Shoot them in the spine and they won't but it's a tough shot to make.

As I posted in the other thread, there is no sure way to shoot one with out it spraying.

When something dies, the muscles let loose and often times defecation, urination, and, in the case of a skunk, the expulsion of musk occurs.

Sometimes we encounter skunks that  have already expended their "payload" somewhere else earlier in the day, and have nothing to spray.
This probably accounts for the myth that a certain shot prevents the animal from spraying.

The best way to remove a skunk without it spraying is through the use of a livetrap and a blanket.
Once the animal is trapped, approach it from the front while holding the spread blanket (tarp, etc.) in front of you and slowly covering the box trap and skunk.
Transport the skunk and trap covered.
Even this method is not always 100% reliable.

The easy solution  to skunks or armadillos digging in the yard is to apply grub killer to your yard.  The animals won't smell easy food in the soil to dig for.
