I had heard about these things a few months back, and "Akins accelorator" came to mind. Today at a gunshow I met with a representative of the company. I driilled this guy hard. I opened with the ATF's reversal of the Akins Accelorator descion. The guy was well versed in the case. I suppose you would have to be with a product like that. At any rate, he had a convincing argument. I am not an easy sell, especially on a $309 stock. Yet, he convinced me a ten year prison sentence wasn't in my future.

I can already bumpfire from the shoulder, however I can't while using my sights much less a cheek weld. This contraption offered me an edge. So, I bought one. I haven't tried it out yet,

My first complaint is about cosmetics. Yes, I know that looks shouldn't matter but this thing is ugly. For $300 it should give me a massage with happy ending. Although, it isn't that much higher than a UBR that I bought for a different rifle. I am not crazy about the finger grooves on the pistol grip, but it isn't like this is my go-to gun.

If this thing works, and stands the test of law, I can say it will be revolutionary to the AR platform, even as ugly and slopy as it is. I think it's a great idea for a range fun gun.

It needs a single point sling mount, there is room for one. It needs to be designed in such a way to provide a telescoping stock. As is in fire position, it's as long as an A1. (or so.)

I am not into hellfire triggers, rubberband tricks, or any thing of the sort. But I can't help but be a little excited by the potiential of this thing, as ugly and rough as it is.

You must use a standard reciever plate. It accepts milspec tubes and every commercial tube I had handy to slide into it. Perhaps some commercial tubes will not fit.

Akins only sold a handful of stocks, this guy sold at least 30 in the duration of one day. There is no spring assist like there was on the Akins. They didn't send in a faulty prototype like Akins to the FTB. With out shooting it, I will say it's foriegn and awekward, but the design seems sound. I think it will work as advertised.

I stuck it on my beater, 9mm AR. Only time will tell. But I have to admit, I am anxious to try it out. I know you guys have probably been discussing this for a while now, I am sure this thread is a dupe, but I am interested to hear you opinion on  the matter.

PM,

There have been a few threads about this stock. Most have deteriorated into sh!+storms debating legalities and some have been completely deleted.

Please put your through its paces and report back. It seems that has been the only thing missing. Someone actually using one and posting results. I am particularly interested in how they work with a .22lr set up. I would imagine you may need a very light crisp trigger to work with the light recoil.

I await your range report.

If it stopped raining, I would get out and try it.

I do have a dedicated .22lr AR I can try,

I saw 2 at the range this morning - 9mm suppressed and .223 - looked like a lot of fun. Maybe more fun than I can afford

I have one.

It did not run right on a commercial Bushmaster telestock buffer tube (too tight), but runs fine on a milspec buffer tube.

It is surprisingly easy to control the rate of fire.  Accuracy while bump firing was also surprisingly accurate.  The LOP is OK for me, but I am 6'2" and 230.

i installed one on a BCM 16'' middie today. raining some, and watching the playoffs, so it will have to wait until some afternoon this week. from what i've read, there is not enough recoil to operate a .22LR, but the owner/manufacturer said he was gonna look at doing one. from all i've read, they work good,, we'll see about that.

So does a bumpfire stick.  And that costs  .3% of the slidefire.  Slidefire costs a full 3% of what that registered 9k dollar AR costs.

Granted, the slidefire is a more refined product... is that refinement worth $299?  I guess so, to some people.

Here is a video of 9mm with the SSAR-15 doing some burst fire. It was pouring down rain, foggy and filmed with a cell phone camera, I am no Speilberg.

I honestly cannot believe they are charging $300. You cannot tell me that they are complicated or hard to make.

My point is that if he sold them for $150, he would sell 10x as much, and make much more money.

When you're the only game in town, you charge what ever the fuck you feel like.

Magpul can come out the a UBR style stock and charge $400 and it would be a hit!

Don't forget he has to have some room in that price for his dealers and wholesale distributors. Tooling costs to make these is WAY expensive. The price will probably start to come down once they saturate the market....

No, the mold probably costed $30K or so, and each unit is probably less than $1 in material and even less in labor.

However, it's capitalism, supply and demand.

Also, consider the legal liabilities that may come out of this. $300 per stock can pay for a good attorney. Should the need arise.

My point is that if he sold them for $150, he would sell 10x as much, and make much more money.

+1
I am sure they are trying to recoup some of the start up costs they had to pay just to get these things to market.  I give it a year or so and if they are not banned by then they will probably start to come down in price.  Case in point: the MD20.  When they first hit the market they were about $200-300, now they are like $75-100.  If I remember right Mike had to put a lot on the line to get those drums to market and when he finally started making decent money off of them he lowered the price.  I feel that these will probably be the same way.

I fear you are right. It is controlable high rate of fire. Compared to other things, it is cheap. Guess I will just have to keep my eye on things to see how long before it happens.

Seriously, I am going to keep my eye on this, see which way it goes in the next few months, then I might buy another and build a rifle around that stock. It is really that cool. I don't care what it looks like. I am not taking it to prom.
