it's official, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. no release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer.

Hey it looks like the Smashing Pumpkins are finally back together... here is a message on their web site they brought back online.

My wife sat next to Billy Corgan on a flight back from Canada. He introduced himself,

"Hello, I'm Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins!"

My wife's like, "Who???"

When she told me, I couldn't believe she didn't know who he was. She did get a signature on the book she happen to be reading on the flight.

Its different, the Smashing Pumpkins just plain suck and put out shitty music. So the same shit over and over is still that, shit.

With Tool, its decent to good music. That always sounds similar. But its still decent music over and over.

See, theres a difference.

I wish they'd let someone else handle the lyrics for some of the songs.

His voice gets old when it's the only one on every track.

I always liked Sonic Youth because they had the guy sing some songs, and the bassist chick sing others.
