You could be right but I don't think it's a water snake, it looks like a Rat snake.  Markings and color appear similar to pics I found.  That was my initial impression when I saw it anyway.

bull/gopher/pine snakes are all too heavy bodied to be the op snake. plus the markings are just like every gray rat snake/oak snake i catch here.
