Anybody have a good trusted source for snow chains? Need to buy some to have for Colorado, going there more and more it seems. Most of the websites I've been to have kinda shady looking and I know nothing about the company.
Any reccomendations would be nice too. 2005 Dodge Durango, looking at something in the mid to high performance area. Our Durango is pretty sure footed in medium to deep snow and ice so I figure if I'm breaking chains out it's gone bad |

2nd for www.tirechains.com Good prices and fast shipping I use the V-BAR chain with the cam adjusters....the cam adjusters are great. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd121/Seabee_Mech/My%20pics/101_0238.jpg I think those are one of the suggested chains for my truck. You like them as far as traction and putting them on? |

I really like the cam locks because it makes it very easy to get the proper tension on the chains (just don't lose the adjuster tool). I also recommend the Truck/SUV Rubber Adjusters sold on that site for keeping the slack out of the chain (They're only $6 and work much better then bungee cords) |

I gotta order them here in the next few days. Going to go that route since I can't find anywhere local that sells chains, us Okies have very little use for them normally. Are these the ones you have? I can't find anything on the cam locks on the description. Any advantage to the spring tensioners compared to the rubber? |
| check with cable splicing places near you. The one by me will make custom chains and youll end up paying about the same as you would for the hardcore cam adjust style. Benefit there is it will be made to your spec and to fit you rig. Failing that like was stated, hit up the tractor/farm stores. |

The pictures on the website don't show the cam adjusters on the chains I ordered (I ordered V-Bar chains for a P 265-70R-17 tire) but they came with the cam adjusters, I'd give them a call just to make sure. If you're only going to use the chains once and awhile I'd go with the rubber adjusters, they're inexpensive and work well. I use the rubber ones on my daily driver truck, UV rays, deicing chemicals and age will weaken the rubber adjusters over time. The spring adjusters are good if you're leaving the chains on full time. |

You can watch the installation video on the website and see the cams being tightened. They're pretty simple, all they do it rotate and take up slack to get a tighter sidewall fit. |
