My wife somewhat reluctantly went to go see that
Its now her favorite movie , she actually bought a framed movie poster for our basement |
|
Never thought I'd watch the movie but my co-worker convinced me. Really enjoyed it.

It has all the things that make a movie great......including fast cars.
|
|
It was a pretty good representation of a bunch of corporate weasels too.

Probably, you help perfect a race car and then don't get to race it, I'd be pissed, I'd hit matt damon as well.

I've been told that Pappy Wyer did indeed get in a fight with Leo Beebe. I have no idea of the truth of this, but the person I was told by could theoretically have been around events.

That's not a 427 side oiler. |

Lots of artistic license - it's a movie.
From all I've ever heard, they weren't the ones that went hands on and much is clearly not factual. Like most movies, is created purely to move an audience. |

Brilliant movie. Fast cars are one of mans crowning achievements in this crazy life.

If you have Netflix watch the documentary "Shelby American" You will enjoy it. I knew who the man was and knew a little about him but the documentary really told his story and I learned a bunch of cool stuff.

I will 2nd the 24 hour war doc. It is also on Netflix and very good.

The other great car was the Chapparal from Jim Hall and Hap Sharp.
|
|
Just watched "Rush" Nikki Lauda was one of my childhood heroes. I never will understand how a man could get back in a race car after that. But he did.
|
|
I tried watching it but that movie just seemed cheesy as all hell.

View Quote Couple that with Enzo being Italy's Carroll Shelby, and the way he was portayed was absolutely perfect. Yeah we wanted to beat his ass, but it was apparent that he loved racing as much as Shelby and the two were kindred spirits. A worthy adversary. Ferrari staying during the race while Ford left in his helicopter was the PERFECT illustration of the contrast between the two. A driven racer who built his company from the ground up in pursuit of perfection, and a rich boy looking to add more feathers to his cap. |

I got to watch it being filmed at Willow Springs. My son was one of the background kids at the track. They put the parents up in the press box, so technically I was in the movie… behind tinted glass.
This is the scene where the kid runs up and asks for his autograph. They originally asked my son to do it, but they came back and said they wanted to use someone older. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

My wife and I watched that last night for the first time. It's a really good movie.

Almost entertaining enough to make you forget that your cam phasers are bad

The tail dragger, recip engine, plane they used in the movie was already an antique by the mid 1960s. They were still in use back then but not as corporate aircraft. It's a minor thing but it kind of kills the authenticity of the story.
