That’s a hell of an evening! Congrats.

I’m watching a YouTube vid of Preston Van Winkle doing a tasting at some place in England with a pour of Weller Special Reserve. Picked up a bottle of Old Bardstown Estate the other day along with a bottle of Larceny. They’re on my list to do over the weekend.

It's pretty bad.

I prefer Stella.

Well done, sir. I had several pours of Old Grand Dad 114 last night. One of my favorites- and priced right!

At the moment I'm having a few pint cans of Hamm's Lager. Was in a budget beer frame of mind this afternoon and figured I'd give it a try. Not bad for $4.69 for a six pack of 16 ouncers.

Four Roses, Yellow Label. Somewhat light and delicate with a short to medium finish and not much in the way of complexity. But nicely balanced and very tasty. Just 80 proof and just right for a Sunday evening.

Please help.

Just tried Maker's for the first time.  Tastes like Beam.... what am I missing.

I think Evan Williams small batch is better??

Looking for a neat sipping sweet bourbon, but not southern comfort lol.

Got a cold and a horrible sore throat.

Poured some Eagle Rare and it burned my throat and tasted like crap (due to the cold).

So I tried some Plymouth Gin and lemon juice. Awesome!

Drank it way to fast, will try to sip the next one. I feel better already.

Maker's, being a wheated bourbon to me is quite a different profile from the Bean products. There are many great options depending on your price point (and over time you will get lots of recommendations here!).

If you like the Evan Williams products, you might try Evan Williams Single Barrel. The whiskey is around 8 years old and while not overly complex, I find it to be an easy sipping, enjoyable and a perhaps the most affordable single barrel out there.

Another great option if you havnt tried it yet is Weller Special Reserve (green label). A 90 proof, wheated bourbon that has a bit more sweetness from the wheat and to me a decently long finish.

You might also try Four Roses Yellow Label; very pleasant, easy drinking bourbon that is very nicely balanced in my opinion.

These are a few quick suggestions based on my limited knowledge. As mentioned- there are some very knowledgeable folks here who I'm sure will provide recommendations.

Thank you.

I keep hearing Wellers come up... I may have to try that.  EW small batch, FRs, and woodford were good.  I just picked up Bulleit which is ok but has a definite bite..

I'm not a real beer aficionado, more of a Bourbon drinker.

However I went on a beer sampling spree a couple years ago and tried a lot of different type and brands.

The Boulevard BBQ is my favorite of all that I tried.

I have not had the  whiskey barrel stout yet, I will have to see if I can get some.

There is no Boulevard beer sold in TN so I have to drive well down into GA to buy any.

Last time I went down to GA to get some Boulevard they had some “vintage” bottles. I was a bit skeptical about beer that old but I bought a couple bottles. I drank one right away and it was fine. I’m saving the other bottle for a while.

2014 was a good year.

I'm a bourbon guy too.  I just (last 6 months or so) started trying different beers.  I have a friend that is a "beer guy" and he's been pointing me in the right direction so far.

That sucks that you have to go to another state to get it.  If I had to do that, I'd just stick with  bourbon.   Some of the beers I've had are great but bourbon is still king for me.

I am having exactly the same! I've been a fan of OGD 114 for some time now. However- being on a bit more of a budget as I am between careers, I picked up a bottle of OGD Bonded yesterday for the first time. This is good stuff fo the money. Nice dose of rye and a reasonably long. peppery finish.

In fact- a man could live and drink quite well just on the various Bottled in Bond bourbons currently on the market.
