| a topic can be brought up and as soon as LE are involved people start getting banned?? Example- a guy posts about his new budget and his new patrol cars and another guy posts a question about the cost vs. effect vs. personal freedom and he gets the ban hammer. A person with banning capabilities sent a guy on his way for asking a dumb question then kinda bragged about it. I am no saint. I have gotten the time out before, but sometimes this gets out of hand. i guess it gets out of hand in the other direction too but c'mon. Must be a simple rant on my part about something that will never change... |
| sometimes it looks like the "us vs. them" is brought up by the boys in blue. i don't like crooked cops and i support solid LE work. But it seems that as soon as anything percieved as negative is spoken the LE personnel start barracading the thread and the banning begins. It doesn't support a "protect and serve" mindset or foster trust in the common man. i understand that it is hard to trust all the people that come in contact with LE, but someone has to maintain the high ground. |

| gotcha Belmont. I need to re-thicken my skin. Don't worry about HOH or Deployed. i have visited both and done both personally. I like this site. it has alot of knowledge. Sometimes it just goes overboard. i am certain that i do the same. Like i said, must be a thin-skin day. No big deal. |

I visit some of the gun boards for grown ups and you rarely, if ever see "cop threads". You certainly don't get the juvenile behavior from those who have never grown out of their rebellious adolescent stage that we so often see here.
Why would anyone who is not a cop bother going in the BOTS forum? Everytime I see a link to a thread there, the problem seems to be someone who is not a cop wants to go trolling. They ask a "serious" question and just start debating or arguing about the answers they get. Lots of kids with chips on their shoulders on this board. Why they are tolerated is a mystery to me. |

| I usually check the active threads when i come on to Ar-15 and I have clicked on a thread that loos interesting then find out it is in the LE section. i have also said things i shouldn't have. I have paid a price for that. It was just a wonder i had and nothing to stay awake all night about. Let this one die. |

Seriously, I see far more of this type of thread than the thin blue line ones you refer too. For example the guy who got a ticket rushing his wife to the hospital where it finally came out that he had a mile long traffic record, had time to take his kids to daycare and was driving to a hospital 30 minutes further away than the closest one. Also to the op, the BOTS forum has a stricter code of conduct so like the guy said going in there to play games is like going to the mil forum and screaming all GI are baby killers. If you can't play by the rules expect the hammer. |

But the fact remains, there ISN'T such a place. and I've seen some stupid shit posted in GD by LE. I don't know what you guys talk about in BOTS, and I don't care. I might be wrong about this, but I haven't been around since ARFCOM's inception. I've only been a membber for a few years. But, I have seen some pretty aggressive trolling and banning (almost a coordinated effort) in GD by LE members that netted 3 or 4 bans in a matter of minutes. It seems like those threads should be kept in BOTS. Just as you guys don't like to see "cop bashing" threads where police misconduct stories are posted in GD, I think the whole community would be better off if there was a forum where such stories could be posted outside of GD, and if that forum was NOT moderated by LE members. That way, the cops can have their BOTS, the cop haqters can have their police misconduct forum, and everyone else can have GD without having to see the crap from either side. |

Just bustin your balls a bit Jace. I read the thread Silence linked to. I don't think he was banned per se. Striker specifically said "quoted cause it's his last post in here." Staff now has the ability to lock members out of certain sections instead of from the whole site. In here is the relevant part of Striker's post. Sounds like he can't post in BotS anymore. Don't know for sure though, I could be wrong. |

The site owner has previously stated in threads just like this that ARFCOM is pro-LEO and anything that can be considered LEO bashing or lead up to it will not be tolerated, and all the mods are aware of this and instructed to enforce these priniciples. Clearly, there are close ties (and overlap) with LEO and the site owners, staff, and mods. The bias towards favorable treatment of LEOs on this board is undeniable (with exception to anyone like KirkP).
Don't kid yourself. GD is as close as you get to free speach on this site, but even that has it's limits. All the other forums are protected as 'technical' forums. Hey, if you own the site, you can make up your own rules. |
