This is good news.

Sounds cool!  Solar will get there as a cost-effective alternative to grid-based power.  I hope sooner rather than later.  I would love to be able to generate my own power rather than depend on a power grid, whether it be from solar or a Mr. Fusion reactor in the basement.  Decentralized power generation will only help things from a SHTF perspective as well.  Also in freeing more people to develop anywhere they choose, not just where the power companies have lines.

Still much more expensive the current methods, but I hope they keep working at it.

Excellent.

Everything I have seen that reaches that high of an efficiency requires a COLD backside ... like you would have in outer space with the face of the panel towards the sun ...

If that's not the case for these panels, then this is HUGE!

So how would you strap a huge ass cable on that and not have it come apart as it whizzed through the atmosphere at like 17000 MPH?  I bet you could also generate some killer static charges with that too.  :)
