Good luck stay calm and watch your VSI. I remember my first solo it was in a 300 cbi, actually I wasn't even nervous.

Good work!

You'll notice how much different the plane flies with just you in it!

Oh, and don't clamp the PTT down while you're cussing yourself out

wow- what a drastic change Yet same old same old

Hazardous Weather Outlook

Today: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southeast wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Why couldn't I have done my solo yesterday

Bummer.  I've had my share of weather cancellations during my training as well.  First solo is a fun one though, hard to wait I know.

well, I attempted it, since I was going to be taking off and landing on 9. Winds were out of 100 @ 12kt.

Ceiling was "supposed" to be broken at 2300 feet. At the end of my downwind they appeared to be 1300 feet and far from broken. TOday gave me a whole new appreciation of IFR rating.
It was nothing but haze surrounding the clouds. I barely could see so I told my instructor another day and called tower and asked for a full stop taxi back to the ramp. Next time

Im am so ready to do this. Im not even worried about the winds, as I have done a fair share of crosswinds and have about 25 hrs logged, with almost all of them being 7- 12 kt xwinds.

I know I am still a noob -  I just want to land that bird with all but the left seats empty.

Enjoy.  It will seem anti-climactic once it's done.

Good luck.

AWESOME. I jumped up at 6:30 A.M and headed to the airport. Called my instructor and woke her up. Winds were 310 / 8kt. Asked her to run with it and she did.

I took a video of me on  base and the landing.

Work is blocking video.google.com. Hope this link works.

Congrats!  Feels good huh?

Although to nit-pick you were on base not x-wind.  And I think you're supposed to stop after the runway threshold to be clear of the runway.

Thanks. Feels great!

corrected the crosswind comment, as I orig. uploaded a video of me on my crosswind and forgot to edit my post, hence the shaky video comment that I removed as well.

btw, that was the stopping point, if I would have passed it I would have been on the taxi way. I was clear of the runway

I guess I needed to pull up past the threshold. I so thought I would be hanging into the taxiway. Guess I couldnt have everything go perfect my first solo My instructor just told me to make sure to pass that next time

Ah maybe it depends, here they make us pass the threshold onto the taxiway before we call ourselves clear of the runway.

At any rate, good job!

Yeah, I got smacked for calling clear of runway while waiting at a taxiway intersection.

Just wait till you get to do the solo X-C, I'm not there yet but I'm just one lesson away.  Looking forward to it.  Night flights are a lot of fun too, it's really nice up there.

ive done a couple night flights, with 3-4 night landings under my belt. I agree- its nice. They were all done in FL "winter" when everything was calm. Looking forward to X-country.

Solo XC is the best part of flight training...

You finally get to go somewhere...

At least for your solo, though, the destination ATC will be able to SPEAK ENGLISH...

Mine spoke 'Kringlish' and Hangul... And I had to argue with them for 45min before they let me land (in the ROK, *everyone* needs a flight plan for EVERYTHING and they lost mine... Koreans!)....

Congrats!!!

Nothing finer than that first solo! (well except first solo XC, and first flight with that signed temp certificate)

Speaking of bad weather I am supposed to fly my final dual lesson before they sign me off for solo X-C today, but it looks like winds will be gusting up to 35kt today of course.

edit: Ah well I got to fly anyway by suggesting we divert to an airport that has runways in every direction so we landed with a full headwind.
