hello,

I'm attending a course called "tools of the designer" and we're currently doing adobe illustrator. I'd love some help on  problem I've encountered. Mind you, i'm not good with PS and I'm a n00b at illustrator.

Basically, I'm making  view of a "product" I've "designed". The shape of the "product" is basically a rectangular prism with rounded edges. Kind of like an older iPhone. By the lower end of the product, the width decreases. I've used the gradient tool to create a shadow that shows the rounded edges, but I have no idea of how to make the gradient evenly follow the decreasing width part of the product.

The shape of the lower end is made with the pen tool. How do I make a gradient that makes the "rounded edge" follow the line drawn by the pen tool? All replies except for mocking and threatening appreciated.

I found  video that explained the "blend" tool for me. I think this is the way to go.

Inner glow would be my suggestion. Set it on Multiply or color burn and turn the color to a dark one that pleases your eye.

I think you're going to want to create a selection from your path and the use the gradient tool within that selection

Unless I'm misunderstanding....
