20k gallon in ground fiberglass. Tired of the SO bitching about the pool so I converted to SW with a Pool Pilot Digi 220 and an RC 48 cell. Also converted from cartridge to a sand filter. Both filtration and chlorinater sized for 42k gallon pool. Backwash plumbed out for ease of use. Also went with recycled glass and some weird volcanic rock\powder instead of sand. Complete rewire, re-plumb and added two 3-way valves for suction and discharge so I can balance the skimmers and jets including a auto digi timer. 3 fucking days but only one trip to Home Depot...I rock on doing take-offs...I should I do plumbing (kinda of) for a living. Just sent the SO for some zip ties so I guess that counts as two trips...shit! One leak that required an extra wrap of teflon tape...I hate this kinda shit but listening to her, this was the lesser of two evils. ![]() Now to unfuck my water chemistry Pool stores will fuck you as bad as going through the drive through! |

They sell you a bunch of chemicals you do not need..Calcium hardness is through the roof as is CYA and Alkalinity is way low as was the pH...All this from my SO taking them water samples and buying and applying what they recommend. While I was away overseas working. She now has a complete test kit of her own and knows how to use it. Either the employees are complete retards or they are in the business of selling you stuff...you pick. |

Quoted: I've heard of people doing this and that it's supposedly a lot easier on your eyes and skin. My question is, can you keep fish in it too? Because having a saltwater pool in your back yard with tropical fish in it that you can swim with would be frickin' awesome. LOL I wish there would be some blacktips or tiger sharks in my pool. No the TDS is kept at 3,000 ppm where as the ocean is closer to 30,000 ppm. Neat idea though. |

Did you put a surge, protector on the Dig 220? These are notorious for the main board getting fried. Also go ahead and get an extra cell cord. The usually last a while, but when things start going bad. A good new cell cord is cheap trouble shooting.
Not familiar with the media you mentioned. May have to study up on that. I can tell you most of the time the people in the store just don't know what you need. If she was using triclor tabs, they have stabilizer in them and that can increase your levels. |
