I'm looking for a tritium Keychain. I know Deal Extreme carries them but they're never in stock and flaky. Some people on CPF make them but Sometimes they'll take a month or two. Does anyone know where I can get a keychain or two that are bright, not the small ones (tritium vial at least 0.75 inches or 20mm), and preferably shipped from the US (not important if there are better overseas)? |

Quoted: You really want radioactive shit that close to your balls? Assuming you carry your keys in your pocket, and not a purse of course. ![]() On a carabiner on my pants. Tritium vials in Keychains are quite safe unless you break one open and eat it. I quote from some person who claims to be an expert (though could be a sweat shop slave child) " I am a nuclear physicist and so when I saw these I had to have one. For those worried about the radiation, tritium is a beta emitter with very low energy (average 5.7 keV). These particles can only travel 6mm in air and 0.0006mm in tissue/water. Thus they cannot penetrate the dead layer of skin. The other reviewer who claimed he measured the radiation with a geiger counter was mistaken. The particles won't make it into the detector. Tritium will produce a small number of X-rays by bremsstrahlung, but they would be very low energy, and absorbed in the plastic container. I couldn't detect any radiation at all from mine with my most sensitive detector. As for legality, of course I don't know the regulations everywhere, but here in my state of australia, less than 20GBq of tritium in a "gaseous tritium light source" isn't even legally considered radioactive. You would need a volume of more than 0.1 mL of pure tritium and I estimate the 5mm by 1mm container only holds 0.004 mL = not legally radioactive. Even if you were to crack it open and inhale the gas you would get less than 1000th of the radiation of a chest X-ray." |

I got mine years ago off ebay same here they came from England I believe key chains fall under the ban on frivolous used of tritium here in the US This. There is no legal source for them in the U.S. This is why all the vendors are sketchy like this, and come and go. eBayers willing to sell to the U.S. Deal Extreme etc. |

I broke mine just last week and I'd like to find another one. I bought mine several years ago from someone over on CPF. Remember how much you paid? I think I paid about $10 or so. I just looked and there seems to be a bunch of people still selling them there. I'll probably look around and see which ones look the brightest. I loved mine and got tons of comments and people asking about it, etc. |

I saw his thread as well. I also saw a pic that someone posted that compared regular tritium colors with "Max" colors. Crazy difference. Hold on I'll go find that... the ones he's selling now aren't exactly the same as the ones I bought previously. but I'd be curious to see the ones you're talking about. |

Quoted: I think I'm going to order a couple of the clear green glowrings from the guy on CPF. If you find any brighter ones, let me know. Are you going to order the tritium ones or the glowrings that are made of powder (that needs to be "charged" by light) and not tritium? I was thinking of ordering a green and blue from http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=197015. Also another from this guy if he can ship soon and maybe build one with a Green and Blue vial in it. http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=195648&page=8 |

My gf was interested in the red but I wasn't sure if it'd be bright enough to justify the color. |
