I'm replacing the pump/motor on a Morgan spa.

It has a Flo Master XP2 model 06620000-1 unit (this might be a made for Morgan no.)

The pump is 2", side discharge, the motor is Magnetek (AO Smith now ?), it is a 48 frame, 2 speed, 230 V, 3.6 HP and lists the amps as 8.5/2.8 amps.

06620000-1 seems like a 2 HP pump number,  the new ones I find are 06120000-xxxx and the 20000 means 2 HP.

8.5/2.8 amps seems low for a 3 HP motor, let alone  3.6 HP.  Maybe they bolted a 2HP wet end onto a 3.6 HP motor?

We want: Quiet, long lasting, economical, easy to install.  The jet velocity can be a bit less than with the original pump.

FloMasters cost more than some of the cheaper units, almost twice as much and some of the cheaper ones use AO Smith motors.  (AO Smith bought Magnetek's motor division in 1999.)

Well, what would you get?  Any good advice.  (Yeah I already know not to date Brittney Spears.  He, he.)

Thanks,

Mike S

I would replace the motor with a Century Magna Tech BN 34 8.0/2.8 amps 1.5/.18 HP. SF1.

The BN 51 is 10.5/2.6 amps, 2.0/.25 HP, SF1.should you want to go a little larger.

Where are you at in Texas Mike?

SpaKing is a member here and runs a hot tub store in Longview.

I'm in San Antonio, that's pretty far away.

I'll change the wet end at the same time since the seals are leaking a bit.
