I have no idea.  But I'm pretty sure it's the most venomous spider in the world, and the old saying about them is "If you see one, you can bet there's a nest nearby with thousands more".

So go and find that nest before they kill you in your sleep.  Or better yet, burn your house down.

Wolf spider...
They eat alot of other nasties you dont want in the house.
Having said that, I still scream like a little girl and flail about panic stricken if one falls on me......like happened last week.
Wife thought I was being eatn by zombie badgers, and then couldnt stop laughing when she figured it out....
I was still sobbing, sucking my thumb, and trying to find my happy place.....

Like what?

What's worse to have in your house than huge spiders?

Looks like it could be a Wolf spider, though they can often be much larger than that one.

I had to go down into my storm shelter this past afternoon because a big supercell thunderstorm with an active tornado warning was bearing down on my location. The first thing I saw when I opened the door was this humongous wolf spider on the wall. I normally leave them alone when they are outside, but once they decide to take up residence in places I consider my own quarters, I tend to squish them on sight. This monster made for quite a squish.

Well, ideally, the wolf eats them BEFORE they enter your house....
But Wolf spiders eat other spiders and we have a small but resiliant population of brown recluse spiders in my area, and a few in the house.
Called a professional exterminator who laid multiple glue traps throughout the house and came back two weeks later. He found two brown recluse in all of the traps. His professional opinion was that we had nothing to worry about and he wouldnt spend the money to try to eradicate them from the house if it was the house he and his children lived in. He recommended not killing wolf spiders and said they will eat brown recluse spiders....

Now, if this was one of those damn snake eating spiders, (I literally just shivered typing that), fuck no....burn the house down, I aint living with that shit...

I'd rather have the other stuff in my house than that spider.

I had one of those enter my house upon my daily morning door openings. The bitch actually ran into my hallway when I opened the door. I gently showed her the front yard again, and wished her her offspring well. Wolf spiders get my well wishes.

Correct, it's in NM.  I've seen wolf spiders before, but none this big.  Usually around the size of army ants, and yeah it was two toned also.
