Wife stepped within about 16 inches of a coiled and buzzing Mojave Green a couple of days ago. Had her Glock, hesitated to shoot as with a couple dozen kids on hike. I told her a Green that close, pretty much trumps Rule Four. I was out opal hunting last weekend and came across a nest of babies. Like any immature man, I picked up rocks and started throwing them at the snakes, ...until one of the rocks I picked up had another baby snake coiled under it.

OK, what movie is that? Sturmpionier? |

Geez snakes dont bother me but NO I was just at walmart and there was black snake sunning beside the car that was parked beside my motorcycle . I went to pick it up and it went into the rim so I waiting for it to stick its head out grabbed it a carried to the grass hill beside the parking lot , which got me a thumbs up from an old lady watching from her car . My wife was freaking out about it the whole time . |

He must have gotten the same forwarded email I did. lol ![]() Most likely so. Still I would not want to walk up on that. One lone timber rattler is enough to scare the crap out of a man. I would likely die if I ran up on a den of them. |

Quoted: You guys out in the desert get all the cool stuff! We only see the more common stuff around here like common water snakes, garters and the black rat snakes. I hatched out these 4 black rat snakes late last year from wild found eggs. I released them back into the wild this week https://scontent-1.2914.fna.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1.0-9/10153253_758231707529646_1509674695688030551_n.jpg |
| My cat Peachie was out in the front yard Monday, acting all weird. Then I saw she had a big (4 ft. or so) black snake cornered at the base of a big maple tree. I went and grabbed Peachie and got her the hell out of there. That snake was just too big for her to mess with. |

It would almost make me feel better if the ones I ran into acted like that one. I've picked up several (with a stick) and only one has ever even rattled at me. That one didn't really get into striking position and only rattled after I set it down. |

I told her a Green that close, pretty much trumps Rule Four. If you have time to pull your gun, aim and fire when within a rattler's strike range you have time to walk away. Shoot them if you want, but don't call it self defense. Call it killing snakes. |

This pic is mine from earlier today. I think this little brown came out too early. I saved him off of the gravel road, he was cold as shit and would barely move. It was like 30 * out this morning. Brought him in the truck and he/she started to liven up a bit finally. http://i60.tinypic.com/2873v4z.jpg Looks like a red bellied snake. A big one is about 18" long and could just about crawl through the outer tube of a Bic pen. Here's the biggest one I've ever caught. I was able to close my hand and completely enclose it, and it still had room to move around. " />
