Good pistols?
Have a line on a lightly used one from a coworker, just wanting peoples opinions. |

I really just want it to have. My M&P's are my carry pistols. Am I going to totally hate the 1911 trigger? I like striker fired, dislike DA/SA, but.. 1911. Haha.
Also, it will have a Octane 45 in the future. Good threaded barrels for 1911, or should I wait for a different model? This just came about by chance, I'm not in a rush to get a 1911 but my coworker is trying to sell it. |

Good mid level 1911's, I love mine for what it is: a working gun. The finish will wear off quickly and it doesn't have the refined level of detail like a show piece or safe queen, but it goes bang and feeds everything I've fed it and isn't picky about what mags I use.
Note that there are several versions of this gun out there. Some were made in Brazil and will generally have a slightly lower value than the US made ones. The US made should have a serial# prefix of "NM" and the Brazilian will say "Made in Brazil". The Brazilian ones aren't junk (mine is a Brazilian), but they might have slightly sloppier finishing work. |

I just picked one up earlier this year. It was my 1st 1911 as well and the only thing i hated was the guide rod. Swaped it out with wilson combat parts and i love it. Forgot to mention this but I did the same. The 2-piece full length guide rod they come with requires a tool to remove for field stripping the gun and has a tendency to work itself loose during firing, while arguably giving no advantage in return. If you get the pistol, plan to swap out with a GI guide rod setup IMO. |
| If you can shoot it before you buy it do so. First one I owned had a terrible trigger had to have a gun smith rework it, had a 7lbs factory trigger. Second one I had in 9mm the foot of the barrel wasn't machined square and it shot consistently to the left 4 inches. Only way to fix it was send it back to Springfield they fixed it for free. They recut the barrel and sent it back took about 2 weeks so pretty fast, after I was able to hit where I aimed. Both pistols were built in the US so can't blame Brazil for anything. |

| Pretty good gun. Mine shoots where I point it but it was a little finicky with factory ammo but it's been flawless with my reloads for some reason. The roll pin came out of the front sight on my first time taking it out but that was quickly fixed by Springfield on their dime and haven't had a problem since. I carry it daily. |

I had one(PX9109L) and it was good. I sold it for a variety of reasons, mostly money related. I also decided when I started building a 1911 that every 1911 ever made MUST have an Ed Brown Memory Groove, and the Loaded does not have one, and I didn't want to spend the money to get it installed properly(not enough metal around the grip safety). Up until then, I loved it Yeah, I'm crazy like that. I also decided that once the 10mm project is finished I'm going to build a 45, so I kept all my old holsters and most of the mags and a decent pile of ammo.

There were some issues with them from that time frame. After becoming a bit frustrated with its performance I sent it back to Springfield at no cost to me. They took the time to fix it right and since then it has been 100% The issues were FTE or stovepiping on the last round of just about any magazine (factory, Chip McCormick, Wilson Combat, etc.) and incorrect sight height. When it came back the trigger was fantastic, the slide to frame fit was adjusted, new night sights of the right height, and wow, what a great gun! Carried it a lot before going to the M&P but I still carry it in the summertime since it is so easy to conceal vs. a double stack mag handgun. Do it, you'll like it OP and you may find yourself longong for more ancient steel. |
