| I am looking at buying a XD .45 Tactical at the gunshow this weekend. They are about $500. Are they good or bad. Is it a waste of money. Thanks. |
I've got limited time on a Glock, but I don't remember the XD being as spongy as the Glock. I do know that the recoil on my .40 isn't as "metallic" as my 1911, if you know what I mean...kinda hard to describe... |
Check out the Springfield Forums. This may be a question better asked there. To answer your question, yes, go for it. I have an XD-45 4" service model and I love it. They are great pistols- reliable, accurate, comfortable to shoot, and inexpensive. Plus they are popular, so if you don't like it, you can sell it and at least make back some of your money or trade for something you will like. |
I know exactly what you mean. I shoot 1911-pattern handguns pretty much exclusively and the first time I shot a Glock I couldn't believe how the recoil felt. I didn't like it. Just pass the recoil on to me, Gaston ... I can handle it! But if the XD is a stiffer frame, I might have to rent one and see what the hubbub is all about. |
I've had this pistol for about 4 months now and am very impressed. It has the accuracy of a well built 1911, the ergos of one but a little larger grip. The grip is the same size as the XD 40s. My tactical has an excellent trigger with a good crisp break. I don't know about spongy recoil like a glock because I've got a G21 too, and its a great pistol. Along with my 1911s. I don't think you will regret the purchase. I'd trust my life to this pistol. |
He knows that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's just commenting on the price. The .45T is $599 in the Atlanta-metro. |

Mine is fairly new, but I love it...I have the 5" Bi-tone tactical with gear....it shoots tight little groups, and is very well balanced with a full magazine. Still kinda hard to get accessories, but that gets better everyday. roy d...I won't tell you what i paid for mine |
