| Hey, looking at trying to trap some squirrels, and was wondering what the best kind of bait was. I'm thinking peanut butter, corn, peanuts, stuff like that, but what other stuff would work? |
| I have had 17 squirrels at once in my backyard eating out of the bird feeders. Black oil sunflower seeds are their favorite food. They will also go for raw peanuts and whole corn. I put peanut butter out and it gets eaten but they like the sunflower seeds most. They will sit there for hours dumping everything else out on the ground just to get the sunflower seeds. |

You trying to kill them? I recommend the "Pool of Death." I got 7 chipmunks and 4 squirrels in 24 hours with it. get a 5 gallon bucket, fill it 3/4 with water, dump enough bird seed in to cover the water. the seed float, and after the ones on top dry out, it looks like a bucket half full of birdseed. put a board so they can climb up to the bucket and sprinkle some seeds on the board. They cant swim. hahahahah. this was after it being out maybe 4 hours. |

Now I don't have to listen to the girlfriend bitch about me shooting the destructive little bastards! |
| I had to stop feeding the birds at my home. The tree rats clean out all bird feeders in a short time. They even figured out how to steal suitcakes from the feeders. Hey that is a idea, suitcakes with bird seed and a good pellet gun my Gammo works great with head shots. |

this was after it being out maybe 4 hours Do you eat what you kill? I usually do––with game animals, though I admit when I kill an ant, fly, 'possum, woods roach, and various other things I don't. You? I've got squirrel in the freezer. Just need a few more. Maybe squirrel enchiladas |

Are they comparable to anything else in terms of taste? I think I'd like to try cooking some up sometime. |

Older ones can be boiled first, then fried. Serve with biscuits and gravy, just as you would with rabbit. |

I think I'd like to try cooking some up sometime. Been a long time since I have eaten any. But I have one in the freezer, just need to get some more before the season ends. Got a large number I have been feeding in the back yard all winter and they are fattened up on corn, sunflower seeds and peanuts. Maybe I will try to get a few more with the pellet gun. Can't use a .22 on them because of houses. You parboil them and then fry like chicken. You can use them in a stew like rabbit. We use to throw them in a snapping turtle stew. http://technohunter.com/Squirrel%20Class%20Presentation.pdf |
