Hey all-

Going to be putting hardwood on my stairs in the next few weeks.  Here's a pic of the stairs now (well - about 8 moths ago).

Notice how I do not have any moulding at the edges of my stairs.  Here's what I'm talking about:

Can I buy this stuff somewhere?  Make it?  I've google seached until I'm blue in the face....

Thanks,

Erik

look for stair nose. If that won't work then call a flooring shop but I believe its called stairnose. SS

As you can tell I was not paying attention to the picture. Stainose is not what you are looking for.

Are you taking up the carpet on your stairs? Are you installing hardwood stair treads? The board you are refering to is known as the skirt board and needs to be installed before the hardwood treads go in.

+1. Make it easy on yourself and put in your skirts BEFORE the hardwood treads. You need to use real stair treads, not stripes of harwood flooring, it will come apart in no time with the force of a person stepping on the front of the step.
Skirt boards are just 1x10 or 12" stock that matches the rest of your trim with a profile of some sort nailed to the top.
