Star Citizen (Page 4 of 12)

I finally logged into my hangar, turns out I consolidated the vast majority of my smaller ships years ago to buy the Hammerhead. And I can't get the Gemini back as I'd applied it as an upgrade to another package. Now the smallest ships I have are an F7M MkI, F7A MkI, Cutlass Black (with a melted Blue upgrade I can buy back) and a Mustang Omega. ![]() Sucks I missed the chance to earn the F7A MkII, that really bums me out. Going bigger, I have the Vanguard (with unapplied Harbinger upgrade), Connie (with unapplied Phoenix upgrade), the Hammerhead, and the Polaris. Looks like I'll have to earn a living with my guns and shaking martinis vs moving gas. ![]() Kharn |

I've got a Cat and a Reclaimer, and even a Hull C, but I don't dare take them out solo these days. Meanwhile, I upgraded my 'Lancer to a Vulture for the solo salvage ops. Always assuming, that is, that the new processor that's on its way makes the game playable for me. I checked last night, and Star Citizen alone was using 16+ gig of ram and 70+% of CPU, along with 100% of my bandwidth. Yup, and that's why I feel a bit trapped by my choices. Fortunately the solo ships are all easy to earn in-game. |

Haven’t logged in for years now. Honestly kinda disappointed in what I’m hearing thus far with the direction the PU is taken, given how much that new trailer kinda hyped me up again. 2013-ish, Picked up a hornet of some flavor (the one you can actually put a ball turret in, unless they all can do that now) and a retaliator, which sounds like it’ll be a big issue to use effectively. Still lots of time til proper release so hopefully worries are for nothing but still. I don’t need a video game that’s a second fucking career |

I played a bit of the 4.0 PTU and had some fun. Tutorial was buggy as hell, couldn't find the location it wanted me to go to so I have to send my account back to the PTU again. ![]() I saw Death of a Spaceman is on the roadmap for 1.0 and CitizenCon mentioned multiple characters (and watched the Sq42 gameplay reveal, holy shit was that cool), so I snagged an Intrepid warbond/LTI package so I can both play around in a starter ship without embarrassing myself in old-school gear and upgrade it into a Cutlass for a pirate alt. I might un-melt my Freelancer for the alt as well. Kharn |

My Cat, for instance, was originally a 6 month ship at $245. I melted it and applied a CCU to an LTI Hull A. I can still melt the Hull A for $245, but the Cat CCU will vanish. Right. What changed though is if you buy a CCU and don't apply it, when you melt the CCU and it appears in your "buyback" tab the buyback price will reflect current retail prices when you buy it back, even on warbonds. It used to be those CCUs would retain the prices you paid for them, so you could buy and melt a bunch of CCUs for credits during IAE for all the ships that were releasing the next year or likely to go up in price and then pull them out of buyback to chain together whenever you wanted. That made it possible to hold onto a whole bunch of discount CCUs with only a small amount of money, since you could melt a new set of CCUs every 24 hours. Ships and packages still work that way BTW, I still have a $150 Taurus stand-alone in my buybacks, and a bunch of $695 2948 packs, which are exactly the same as the current $1100 exploration pack without the ($50) expedition paint and Pisces upgrade. It's all a game to create the perception of value and get more money, but the game itself is entertaining. |

I was originally promised a game where there'd be a PVP-PVE slider where I could manage the likelihood I'd have to deal with spastic 12 year olds ganking people for shits'n'grinz. It was originally presented as a game where, while not strictly a completely single-player experience, it would get reasonably close. Of course, we were also promised that proven gankers would be shunted to their own servers, and how likely is THAT to happen? The immature behavior I've witnessed in other MMOs has completely soured me on a lot of this PVP shit. The Teabagging is only 1 aspect. It's only gotten worse as the game development drags on. By the time the game releases, I'm very likely to be 70 freaking years old (literally, I'm not exaggerating. I'm pretty damn' close.) and my ability to duke it out with some monstered up teenager is going to be questionable. In the 12 years since I ponied up my first $30, I've gone from combat/exploration oriented to craft oriented as my reflexes slowed down. |

Bedlogging doesn't work like I thought it would. Apparently, what happens is, you power down your ship, lie down on the bed, and then the whole thing explodes. After which you wake up in the med bay without your shit. Remind me not to do that again. |

4.0 EPTU is getting better. Buttery smooth when the servers aren't on fire. I put the odds on them pushing it out this week at 80/20. I put the judgement of this being a good idea at 20/80. They're putting out a new build daily right now, but I think they realistically need a couple more weeks of development time to get it right. their Christmas break is coming, though. Currently, shards consist of 4 Stanton servers, 6 Pyro servers, and a 600 player cap per shard. Between more players and working NPCs, the verse feels lived in now. Navigating the tunnel through jump space is kinda fun, too. :) The org I run with is really looking forward to the new build, basebuilding, and getting down to business. A bit more than 50 people, active, and usually on evenings east coast time. For now till the end of 3.24,. we're working on getting our folks caught up and through the Save Stanton Chapter 1 missions. :) |
What year haven't they pushed a build right before going on Christmas break, and then fixed it after New Years? It's a holiday tradition at this point. They might as well turn the servers off and display "go spend time with your families" as the launcher splash screen instead of killing themselves in the push to Live. Kharn |

Like someone else said, some of those might be pretty valuable if you care to sell them individually. I didn't even think about that. You may do pretty good with limited hull/rare or OC ships. I've bought from Star Hangar but never sold, so I don't know how that works or if it's worth the hassle to use them or a similar site for someone just trying to dump their stuff. Anyone messing with the new Guardian? I'm debating moving to single crew ships with all the engineering stuff coming. |

Kharn I completed missions 1-3 of the Save Stanton missions. Got to the 4th and they're hauling missions. Am kinda meh, but I guess I should try to complete them. Any tips on where to go to buy the supplies? Hopefully won't have to run all over to get them. I bought 6x sets of cargo and just turned the same quest in 6x in one stop. Doable with a Cutlass Black solo? Even if the pilot sucks? Asking for a friend. ![]() Kharn |

Had enough alum and ag for 4 more but I didn't buy enough nitrogen...bought before I accepted the mission. I'll knock out the other 4 tonight in one trip now that I know what to expect. What am I looking at to have a viable video card to run SC? My current Geforce 580 8gb is clearly not cutting it, chugging along at 95-100% usage. I'll start right off saying the 4090s are WEELLLL out of my price range. Is there such a thing as a card that'll do an adequate job for less than $400? |
History indicates that Conservative Americans only have three speeds: silence, peaceful protest rallies, and Total Industrialized Warfare. They excel at the latter.
