Well I started my application to the US Border Patrol.
Filled out the online application, then was given my test date for the written exam.
I take it one month from today - little nervous.
I printed out the BP prep manual, and I am thinking of ordering the guides from Amazon.com as well.

A little nervous about the background check - but I have no criminal record, not even a speeding ticket.
Never tried any drugs, only thing I can think of is a little drinking when I got to college.

Any advice from current/retired CBP agents, or any LEO for that matter?

Be prepared to wait a long time, sometimes without hearing ANYTHING. Don't sweat the polygraph or voice stress. When and if you have to take them, don't do any soul searching the night before about whether or not the 10 cents you took from little Bobby is considered theft or not. Just be honest and make sure to clarify anything in your packet that might draw questions.

Since BP is one of the few legitimate fed.gov LEO jobs, I can offer my sincerest best wishes for you. Go get em!

Just do the prep manual, it is the same stuff on the test.
ETA: If you don't know Spanish pay particular attention to the fake language portion.

Good luck bro, the USBP needs all the help it can get.  Take a few hours a night for a few days before the test to grasp the ALT test if are not a native speaker.  If you have any questions, I might be able to help.
