So Stewart is quite leftist, but even he has been poking fun at the Dems most of the year...

Colbert, on the other hand, a die hard Republican...yet it seems like every episode he is bashing Palin...whats up with that?

The left is so far left that the right has to swing left to keep the balance?

Colbert isn't a Republican. His show is sort of masked as a right wing type show just to counter Stewart.

On a side note though, I've met Colbert in person and he's a cool guy.

According to his bio, he's a Democrat.  On the show he says he is playing a character that is independent with conservative leanings.

Jon Stewart is his boss, that's where the character started.

I've always known there was a percentage of republicans, not a big percentage mind you, roughly the same as the percentage who still believe Bush is a great president, maybe even the same people, who believe Colbert is actually a conservative...

But it's still F'n hilarious every time I hear it.

Colbert is doing an act. His TV "persona" is to be an outlandish, over-the-top Republican pundit, he's playing a character.

He, in real life, is very much a liberal and has talked in detail about it.

I can't believe people actually get sucked into satire like that.

Colbert may actually be more liberal than stewart.  I also have to give credit to stewart for SOMETIMES trying to actually get some news out there.  Colbert's show is 100% about him.
I've actually learned from the Daily Show.  Like when he has retired military on the show who are publishing books.

All the news shows are similar, someone with an agenda telling you what they think about events as they happen.

Stewart is at least funny about it and doesn't try to hide his agendas or try to maintain  a false sense of professionalism.

Stewart/Colbert are just a wing of the liberal MSM meant to reach the average 20 something stoner who could care less about politics, and influence them into voting (D) under the guise of "comedy".

hink

I think the majority of people who watch their shows already are going to vote Dem, so it really doesn't matter that much. And in the shows defense they actually do a much better job of sending jabs to both sides as opposed to the "legit" news sources.

This is where I disagree.

I think a lot of the people who watch that show have no opinion, and werent going to vote, so they paint everything right wing in the worst light possible.

Shit, who isn't?

But the main thing here is that he does take cracks at both sides albeit he does take more against the republicans. Also he is pretty damn funny which I know that a bunch of people here won't agree with because as soon as anything is said/done mocking republicans a bunch of people here get all bent out of shape and start crying worse than a toddler.

It amazes me how thin skinned people are on here at times. As evidenced by all the Palin threads that pop up anytime she is brought up in the media. Some people here react like someone just walked up and bitch slapped their mother in front of them.

But I digress. I think he is funny and I take the cracks at the republican party with a grain of salt. I have always voted republican and more than likely will till I die even though there are several things I don't agree with about the party.

You think so therefore it is huh?

Well, pretty much all my friends and I watch Stewart and all of us are republicans and have voted republican since we could vote. But this plays right into my point of people getting but hurt everytime there is a crack against republicans. What's funny is that a lot of people who get all up in arms and start saying that a show is crap haven't watched it in YEARS or EVER.

You THOUGHT wrong.

Fair enough. I really don't know the dynamics of the viewers of the show but if I had to take a guess I would say the majority would be between 16-25 years of age. Most of the younger people (disregarding those who post here her
In the end I do think most voters relieze that it is indeed at farce and that they do get their political info from a better source then those shows. Although if they don't there are far worse alternatives. Hell at least the Daily show blasts hippies.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP26f3BYdWI
