Gentlemen,
I'm currently serving in Iraq. My ETS date was originally February 2010, however, I will end up "stop lossed" since my redeployment date isn't scheduled until this summer. My status is reflected with an "S" on my ERB. My retention/reenlistment NCO said that if my fellow NCOs and myself did not extend and became "stop lossed" we would receive a bad reenlistment code and be banned from ever reentering service. I want to enter the National Guard after I'm discharged and I can't find any information if my status/ reenlistment code will affect my eligibility. Can anyone provide any information? I have asked the retention/reenlistment NCO, but he'd selling the interests of the unit and Army, not looking out for my interests. Many Thanks, Sigman |

Where does it say "S" at? Next to "Reenl Elig/Prohib" or "AEA / Dt"
ETA: www.hood.army.mil/dhr/files/stop_loss.pdf B. ETS AND SEPARATIONS. HRC EPMD WILL ADJUST SOLDIERS’ ETS DATES TO THE UNIT’S SL/SM END DATE IF ETS IS IN THE STOP LOSS WINDOW (D-90 TO R+90), AND POST DELAY IN SEPARATION REASON (DLSEPR) CODE "S" (STOP LOSS). Code has nothing to do with being bad, person who said that was trying to threaten you into reenlisting. |

That's some mother fucking bullshit. Tell whoever said that to fuck off and die.
You can't get banned from reenlistment for being stop lossed. I didn't reenlist when I was stop lossed. Now I'm out and the damn reserve recruiter has already sent hand written letters, and showed up on my damn door trying to get me to enlist in the reserves. |
| The retention guy saying that if we take the $500.00 a month pay off, we will not be able to re enter service without a waiver. Declining the $500.00 is not an option, as it's DA directive. I know some units are overstrength right now and a soldier, even an NCO with multiple deployments, requiring a waiver may not be worth the effort to gain, seeing how most services have already made their quotas for the year. |
