Deputies in Kansas were reporting bumper to bumper storm chaser traffic jams this evening.
One deputy counted 60 - including an "extreme storm chasing tour" van. Numerous cases of reckless driving. One chaser was told to get out of the county. How long before morons ruin things for everybody else and the gov decides to crack down? |

Really I hope that the government doesn't step in. Nature will sort these folks out soon enough. That is the trouble with this country, our government has regulated nature right out of the natural selection process. Why in the world would you want to stop a person who is trying to get closer to a tornado? That person should be encouraged to jump right into the thing. |

I enjoy looking at the horrifying footage of huge tornadoes though.. But yah, every now and then you get one like the El Reno monster that tossed those chasers a few miles and killed em. |

Quoted: I can see the fun in storm chasing (but I would probably get bored with it after a while). But extreme storm chasing tours? What a great way to roll the dice on your kids living in poverty. ![]() Hardly. Well...if the tour operator is totally vapid he might get you into a dangerous situation, but generally most folks stay to the SW /South of the cells as a rule. With the new dual polarization radar products, it's pretty hard to misinterpret even a rain wrapped storm. I seldom drive very far anymore to chase. |

I say we should make bubble wrap and duct tape freely available to tornado chasers. Have fun, and be sure to Go-Pro it. |

“At one point in time, both sides of the highways were blocked with storm spotters. I actually drove by on my PA telling them to get off the road because they were just congesting traffic that much. If you want to see a storm, you know, watch the news, http://ksn.com/2015/04/09/storm-chasers-clog-roads-in-barber-county/ |
