My wife's cousin is one of the actors on that show, and when I last saw her, a few weeks ago I was ashamed to admit I haven't seen an episode. ...it was a really awkward moment for me.

I enjoyed it. Maybe it's a generational thing. I grew up in the eighties so it reminded me of my childhood and shows/movies, most notably Goonies and ET. I suppose if you're quite a bit older or younger, the nostalgia aspect would be missing for you.

A couple of weeks ago one of the streets in Douglasville, GA, was closed down for filming an episode, I saw some kids in the middle of the road on bikes as I drove by. Many of the scenes have been filmed in and around my area. First season had a store right up the road from me in one scene then another had the old tax commissioners office in town. Pretty cool seeing that on the screen.

LOTS of filming was done in my hometown.

For example; the poster in the OP is a little local stretch of road. A buddy of mine leases the cow pastures in the pic. The film crew had to constantly run cows out of the pics/filming!
