Does anyone have any knowledge on strobe lights?  I bought my current truck a couple years ago, and it has strobe lights mounted in both headlights and taillights.  I am guessing that the PO used it for some type of business, contractor, or whatever (other clues lead me to believe this).  The wires were cut and removed along with whatever controller was used.

I have done some searching but everything I am finding is for LED strobe lights.  Mine are not LED's.

If it's cheap enough, I wouldn't mind getting them working just for shits and giggles

My bulbs look like this:

Hello,

There are all kinds of different brands / models, and types of strobe lights, the picture you posted can be controlled by this type of controller here

Just make sure you get the color coding correct,

Red - Power
Black - Ground
White - Signal

You can purchase the end connectors and crimp them on very easily as well.

These are the extension cables to go from the lights to the control unit.

That should be enough information to get you started

Just keep in mind many states have laws and regulations regarding any strobes on a vehicle. If they work, you can get a ticket. I don't know about VA, just something to keep in mind.

Thanks.  I'll be OK.  They will never be used on the street.  Come to think of it...I really don't know if I would ever use them but to show a friend "Hey, I hooked them up...check it out"

Depending on how much of the system is still in place it may be a easy as replacing the strobe pack. How many bulbs and are the cables still in place ? Packs can be found cheap as many are upgrading to LED units. I have installed far to many systems to count so let me know I'll walk you through getting them operational if you need

Thanks. The only thing left on my truck are the bulbs.  One in each headlight and tail light.  The wires have been snipped as soon as they exit the light housing on each.

So for all intensive purposes your doing a new install. The biggest pain is getting the cable runs from the pack to the heads. I generally try to mount packs under seats in POV's for protection but this varies by vehicle. The strobe cable is available in 3 & 6 conductor so depending on access and head placement you can decide on which you would need. On some installs I have run one 6 conductor from the pack to the passenger front & rear then a short 3 conductor across to the driver side.

But for the stage your at with no pack and no cables run I wouldn't bother with strobes. Feniex Cannon LED hideaway are the way to go at the moment they fit into the existing holes require less wiring as you just need power at point of install.

Good thinking....I didn't focus much on the hassle of basically rewiring the truck  Looks like it will be more trouble than it's worth.  Thanks for the info!

Having my lights sent out for retrofit HID projectors has always been on the drawing board too....once I come upon a bag of cash with $600 in it.  I won't have to rip it (strobes) all back out again when that time comes
