Last Saturday (3-29) I shot in another sub-machine gun (must be pistol caliber) match at the Rio Salado Sportsman's club. The matches are held every month that has a 5th Saturday, entry fees are $10.00 per shooter. This is a fun match...no prizes. There are 3 classifications: 1) Classic, any sub machine gun made before 1945. 2) Modern Tactical, any sub machine gun made after 1945 with iron sights 3) Modern Open, any submachine gun made after 1945 with some sort of optical sight. The whole match is shot on full-auto. Targets are a mix of paper and steel. Rules are loosely followed USPSA...scoring is based on time and accuracy (failing to engage a target or missing it results in adding time to your score), lowest over all time wins. There is always one man on man stage where two shooters engage plate racks with a stop plate in the center that determines the winner. The loser is supposed to add 10 seconds to their over all time (more on this later) I used my 16" 9mm ASA upper with Cav Comp, and OKO sight with SC4 cover on one of the company M16 lowers with green ergo grip and C1 stock. I decided to shoot the match in my body armor just for the hell of it to see how well everything worked together. The shorter length of pull C1 stock makes it much easier to shoot with body armor on. My new Spec-Ops Brand {www.specopsbrand.com) pouches worked well for holding 3 UZI mags or 2 colt 9mm mags with mag pulls on them. Anyway here are the videos... Man on Man stage against Doug (Ilove2Shoot): http://www.cavalryarms.com/vids/Subgun20030329.WMV 1.5MB Doug won, I had a magazine malfunction...so I added +10 seconds to my score http://www.cavalryarms.com/vids/SubgunR20030329-2.WMV 4.4MB http://www.cavalryarms.com/vids/SubgunR20030329-3.WMV 3.7MB I finished 6th out 15 in my class (modern-open), and 11th over all out of 41. Looking at the scores though, everyone else only added +5 seconds if they lost the man on man...I added +10 (its the way its always been, they must have changed the rules). In light of that I should have finished 5th over all, and 3rd in my class. Oh well I'll see how I do again next time. |
