Just having a good time in the funest car I think a person can own; for the money anyway My STi video on Youtube |
I'm in Salem,OR. Most of those vids are out towards silverton. Some was at Primitive Racing's advanced rally school, and the pavement stuff was out at a drift event I just went to watch but the announcer on the microphone started calling me out as I entered the parking lot. It was pretty neat, I showed up an Evo The newest model STi is pretty fugly. can't believe they made it hatch only... |
I've been following rally america like most people follow the nfl, since 2001. Haven't missed an OregonTrail PR since then -Tribute to my Dead STi Video- |
2.5L Turbo 4cyl Boxer engine (horizontaly opposed,like an airplane engine) 300HP/300lb 6Speed AWD w/ hi-perf diffs 3200lbs 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and does the 1/4mile for me in 13.2, not bad for 35K! 60-0 in 110ft with 13in+ size brembo's |
Traitor? Me? I shouldn't tell you how much I love it then, huh? My first Subaru rally car was an RX Coupe. I've had 7 since then. This is my fourth Mitsubishi. God, talk about depressing. I've had: 1 Ur-Quattro. 3 Mazda 323GTXs (1 as a rally car). 1 Galant VR-4. 1 Eclipse GSX. 3 Legacy Turbos (all 90s, 1 as a rally car) 7 WRXs/STis (or Impreza Turbo: 1995, 97, 99, 00, 02, 03, 04). 1 EVO 8 MR. 1 EVO 3. 2 Celica ST165s. 2 Celica ST185s. 1 2.5 RS. I think I qualify as "hard-core". ETA: I own a shop that does Race/rally prep. Mostly Porsche and BMW, with a healthy dose of VW/Audi, Subaru, and Mitsubishi. |
lol, you certainly are... What's the name of the shop? I may have heard of ya |
|
Oh, I raced for me for a while. Was slow, not super talented. Now I own Delta V Motorsports, in Richmond, VA. www.deltavmotorsports.com. Website is horribly outdated, but there. We run Quantum Rallysport as a team. It's been a good year for us. Road racing too. Sticking too 2wd this year (money's better, thanks Max Attack), but may build anothe PGT or Open car for next year. |
You didn't happen to peel the "Subaru Impreza" stickers off of your STi today did you? |
|
I have been trying to keep myself from trading in my normal WRX for one of these. When I got my WRX, I decided not to spend the extra money on the STi because I really wanted to keep my old car for the weekends. I love my old car and I still drive it, but it sure looks like the extra 70HP really ups the ante. If I was to get one, i think i would have to sell my old car, a 93 300zx twin turbo What would you do!!! What I have now--WRX and 300z twin turbo or What I could have--one STi |
keep both and get the up and down pipe for your WRX I miss my WRX wagon...drove a STI and loved it too but rode in a standard WRX with chip and up/down pipe and it was pretty much the same as a stock STI minus the pink trim |
|
Looks like fun but i don't think I would go dirt thrashing in a 30K car but hey more power to ya went off roadin' in my vette once but it was not on purpose ![]() I have always been kicking around the idea of setting up a home built rally type AWD eclipse or talon as they seem pretty cheap and easy to get decent power out of |
Nice car! Did you use Cobb's turboback to get to stg 2? How do you like it? Currently I'm running a Cobb AP2 to get rid of the horrible '07 tune, it's like a night and day difference. I'm saving for snow tires and wheels right now and want to add exhaust in the spring. Yeah, I saw that Evo linked on another board. ![]() |
Oh yes the tuning between stock and Cobb Stage2 is crazy, much crisper response and better on gas mileage. It also changes the max speed limiter from 135mph to 315mph, so you can go as fast as you want. Boost is increased from 15psi to 18psi. Current horsepower rating from 300/300 to 350/380. IF I was going for more horse power I would probably go for a twinscroll turbo, equil length headers, 860cc injectors, fuel pump and a front mount intercooler. That setup should be good between 400 + horsepower. I might need to go stage 2 on my suspension of that was the case. I have the Stromung Down/midpipe and the Espelir JGT500 Cat-Back Exhaust System Gives it a deep low growl, sounds awesome. For Winter tires I went with the Michelin Alpine snow tires. They are currently mounted on my stock BBS wheels. Summer tires are the Stock mounted on ROTA's ![]() New Rims were $650 including shipping from Subydude. Tell him your a member on Nasioc (which I would assume you are) www.turninconcepts.com are the bomb when it comes to good products, free shipping is always a plus. |
