I had a Subaru Brat and it went places that shocked people with other 4x4's. I also got 30 miles to the gallon. I am sure you also had all the DU posters waving at you too!! |

This was a 1979 I bought new. Gay people hadn't left the Volvo fold yet. By the way the Forester and Outback are imported from Indiana. Both are just Station wagons. My 1998 Cherokee and the Wife's 2008 Grand are too. |

I think Subaru is the only auto manufacturer that I have never heard anyone bitch about, aside from the allegations of their marketing to the homosexual community. If they do, I don't give a shit. I liked mine. Drove it on the beach in NC and trail rode it in Ohio. All while getting 30+ MPG. |

Tahoes are big station wagons? I never knew that because they ride on a 1/2 ton full truck frame usually with a V8.

And yeah it's not an SUV, but it sure as hell isn't a station wagon as I previously understood them. So no, it's not meant to climb boulders or make you look more manly, but it still looks like a damn good vehicle. Car snobbery here is worse than the gun snobbery. |

Until I learned ONE blowout and all the tires had to be replaced I was kinda liking the Subaru. Had to pass. That would be bullshit. That's what the dealer, every tire CO told me before I pulled the trigger. Sorry, not gonna happen when 100% of everyone says the same. ETA: that was the Trebeca as I recall (forester was NOT an option). |

Quoted: The majority of flats can be repaired. But I've seen lots of 2wd cars in the snowbank out here with plenty o' damage.Quoted: Quoted: Until I learned ONE blowout and all the tires had to be replaced I was kinda liking the Subaru. Quoted: Until I learned ONE blowout and all the tires had to be replaced I was kinda liking the Subaru. Had to pass. Not strictly true. If the tire can be repaired - you're good to go. Just fix it and back on the road. The problem is if one tire is damaged beyond repair and a new tire would be considerably larger (due to treadwear) than the other three. Depending on the type of AWD/4WD system, the difference in size can put undue stresses on the drivetrain and has in the past led to very expensive repairs that owners have probably sued tire companies for (and won). Hence the "replace all four" mantra. Edited to add: you can also have a tire shaved down to meet the same tread depth as the others: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=18 |
