Just finished watching Super 8, pretty good flick. However, I noticed in the credits (I know, who the fuck watches those, right?) that there was the following TBD TBD Seriously, there was a TBD job title assigned to a TBD person...how fucking lazy hollyood, seriously? So in short, pretty good JJ Abrams/Spielberg flick, lazy post production editing. Discuss...or not. |

Loss, anger, animosity, then,... reconciliation and release. What's not to like?
P.S. - It is a movie whose target audience is approximately the age of the kids in the flick - 13 years old. It is not a film intended for adults. I'd put it in the same category as "Goonies". |

It was a well made flick and it had pretty good acting and pacing, but the payoff was too derivative. I felt like I had seen it before, more than once. I was disappointed that it was so unoriginal in the end. Exactly. The first 3/4's of the movie was really cool, IMO. But, the end? I just didn't feel anything. It wasn't scary, it didn't tug at the heart, nothing. It was as if they were trying to wrap it up quick. A shame, really. |

Reminds of of something....trying to put my finger on it...oh, that's right, LOST!! That show started out great and by the last season I didn't even watch it anymore. ![]() In all honesty though, I actually liked the movie. I won't be buying it, and I probably won't ever watch it again, but it was worth a rental. It did a fair job of what I hoped it would do- entertain me for a couple hours.

| Watched it last nite. I liked the movie. Now maybe I'm expecting too much but I would like another 15 minutes of film with some background. And the premise that a pickup can derail a fast moving train is ridiculous. I've seen truck vs train and the train only stops because of it's own brakes. The alien kinda drew me in (love creature features) but left me disappointed. The design was cool but it was almost a background character when it should of been more important to the story. I realize the movie was about the kids ala Goonies or ET but even ET was a more fleshed out character. I guess we're supposed to make assumptions about the strange events occuring because of the alien. It all seemed like secondary story line to the silly zombie movie the fat kid was making. |

It reminded me a lot of Goonies, that was a Speilberg movie as well if i remember right (to lazy to do a search) It had the same scenario with the kids having a big secret that they couldnt share. Characters of the kids were similar as well. My 12 year old son enjoyed it. It appealed to me because the time setting was late 60's early 70's i was the same age as the kids in the movie during that time frame. Good family movie, with no real gore. |
Yeah, it's not like 13 year olds are the target of many movies. I hated goonies. at hte time I thought it was unscrupulous pandering to children. As a kid I hated movies that targeted children only. Tha's what Disney's for.The goonies and f#$%@ing ewoks. Walks of mumbling to self. Eh' I'll give it a rental eventually, could be wrong, have been before. |
| The movie was actually set in 1979 in Ohio. I really liked the movie. Confronting the loss of his mother, metaphorically that was the roll of the monster. This was the first film project the young boy had ever been in and I thought he did a terrific job especially playing next to Elle Fanning who is well on her way to becoming a tremendous actress. I don't think anyone convey's the point of view of children as week as Spielberg. Consider ET; nothing scary or really suspenseful but a great film. |
