Does anyone have one, and what are your thoughts?  I have been considering getting one to be a daily carry flashlight and am curious as to peoples opinions.  Is the head on this light the same size or close to the one on the regular E2D?
Thanks

Can't comment on the E2D but I highly reccomed this for a good work/ duty flashlight. I carry mine on my flight vest and use it just about every night at work. It's the Surefire G2D and only cost me 35 bucks.

I have given 4 people the G2's but have yet to get myself one.

I have an E2d led If you press once, it's REALLY bright, and second press it's dim but longer lasting. Unfortunately if you are strobing or flicking the light on and off to search a structure half the time it's dim. This makes is pretty much unusuable for use as a light with a pistol. Also I have heard that when mounted on a carbine if will accidently light up sometimes, which is unacceptable.

Now for a general purpose light it kicks ass, the bright is a little search light and the dim is good enough for use as a regular flashlight and it seems to run forever. It is also very tough, waterproof impact resistant etc.

So, no good for fighting light to use with a gun, otherwise a great light.

same size, a LOT more output.  It puts the regular E2D  to shame.  I think it's quite possibly the best Surefire there is.  I carry one daily.

Good news is, 99.99% of us are not "clearing houses" and such.  So, we're good there.  If you're doing that shit, just get a G2 nitrolon and mount it.  Done.

I guess I had incorrectly assumed that most people here carried a pistol and wanted a light to use in conjunction with a pistol if the need arose, or to use if the light on their carbine failed. Surefire improperly markets this as a defensive light, not a general purpose light. As a general purpose light it's a good choice if you want to spend that much, although the little nubbins will poke you and scratch up up any nice wooden furniture you might have if you forget it's in your pocket.

I just carry it for the light, and to whack someone with if I don't feel I should shoot them.  I carry it in a surefire holster on my belt.  Always worked fine.  Yeah, the teeth will eat you up good if you just put it in your pocket...they're quite sharp.  I like that in case I have to break a window or what not sometime.

I do carry a pistol, but I don't believe I've ever felt the need to pull a LEO move and use the flashlight with it.  I'm sure the need may come up for some, but I sure don't anticipate it.

own both the E2D and E2D LED. the LED is my edc light. the tailcap switch resets to high beam if its not pressed for 2 seconds.

and yes, it will tear you up good if you dont put some thought into where you wear it. but when you bend the clip out of shape, the surefire support guys will walk you through the disassembly and repair.

You ever seen the GG&G meat tenderizer they used to sell for the regular g3s? The Surefire is a pale imitation of that thing, it looks like something you put on a drill to make holes in wood.

One instructor I had said a student of his who lived in his area had a knock on the door late at night. He picked up a surefire with the gg&G just so he could see who was there as the porch was not lit that well. When he opened the door the guy tried to shove past him into the house and he reflexively brought it down on the guys face in sort of a hammerfist blow. It tore most of the skin and muscle off the guys cheek

He said the guy who got hit felt his face and the guy who hit him looked at it and they both went "FUUUUUUCK!" and then the intruder ran away.
Take a low light class, it'll be a good excuse to buy even more overpriced lights

and it's pretty basic stuff everyone who carries a pistol should know. I don't know about PA, but this time of year it's dark about 20 hours a day up here

I saw all kinds of wild lights. I'm not convinced the auto strobing lights are worth it, but it was fun to borrow them.

I just put an led module in my old G2Z to use with a pistol, but I sure like the size and pocket clip on the e2dled better. I wish you could get it without the modulating. As much as I love my regular g2s, I have a bunch, they paled (literally) in comparison to the new led stuff.

G2 is my daily light (not LED.) Great output, batteries seem to last pretty well, and believe it or not, I got it from CTD for $32 a couple of years ago.

I have a E2D LED for my edc light. They make a single and dual stage version.Just tonight some asshole was tailgating me and the wife and it came in handy.I pulled over to the side and the crazy tailgater pulled beside us with his midle finger in the air and window down, telling me to get the fuck outta the way!!!(speed limit wasn't fast enough for him).I give him a nice luman treatment! The dumbass focused on the beam, then covered his eyes almost crying.I told him to fuck off and drove away as he had to wait for his eye's to work again .

the little E1B 'Backup' is awesome in my opinion.  So small it can slip in a pocket, jacket, etc.  It is rated at 80 lumens on high, but holy cow it puts out a nice smooth beam.  The power went out at home and the 15 lumen setting is great.  Such a powerful light for it's size.

For great pricing give BrightFlashlights a call...

I have one and love it.  Perfect size to carry around daily, very bright on high mode(125 lumens i think) and good battery life when used at low mode for most normal tasks.  It also seems pretty indestructible to me.  It’s also a bonus that it has the “Crenellated Strike Bezel” which seems like it might be handy if you have to defend yourself and don’t have a weapon on you.  It’s been great for me because my college campus won’t allow guns on campus and you can’t carry knives on you.  I carry my E2D LED when I go running in the area around campus or when I go out to the bars.

Even if I had a CCL I wouldn’t be able to carry while drinking.  One of my friends recently got jumped and beat up by a carload of young gangbangers(seemed to fit profile of a gang initiation) two weeks ago when walking the half mile from a bar back to campus with his girlfriend.  This isn’t a bad part of town at all but the ghetto is just across the highway about three miles away.  A blinding light that also has use as a striking weapon would help even the odds and maybe provide a chance to get away in a 4 on 1 fight
