A guy I work with gave me a Surefire G2 that he picked up somewhere and never used. I have just the flashlight and no package. Online it says it uses 2 3-volt lithium batteries. I call the local radio shack and they said they have more than one kind.

Do I have to get some special battery from surefire or what kind of 3 volt lithium batteries to I need?

Thanks!

If you want your SureFire to really kick butt get these (3) items, you'll upgrade to the latest LED technology and have rechargeables to boot!

Surefire has their own batteries

So I can't just run down to radioshack and pick up some 3volt batteries that fit?

If so, then that really sucks!

CR123s, as noted above I buy mine in the 72 round packs from Surefire, but they also sell them by the dozen.....

Nope, but apparently the battries are really good. I need to pick up a G2. If you don't like it needing it's own batteries I could use a good flashlight for my night landnav courses

Any 123 batteries will work. Walmart carries them, but they are cheaper from surefire and elsewhere.

The two kinds that are common are CR2 and CR123.  CR2 are shorter but the same diameter and are used in some cameras.  CR123's are longer and will last about 1 hour continuous use in your G2.
