That film has funny moments, but you can see MM's anti-Americanism in it. That makes it hard to watch. There's a difference between friendly banter or self-effacing humor and an undercurrent of hatred. His later work didn't even bother to diguise his distaste for the US as comedy.

True, I noticed it.
 


Often when I note such bias in films (anti-gun, political, anti-male, etc.), people tell me to lighten up -"it's just entertainment" they say.

I have a good friend who is Canadian, I was married to a Brit, and I've lived in the UK; I know about banter.  Teasing each other about our countries is pretty common. What MM does in this film isn't lighthearted.
