How many have you had in your lifetime?
Doesn't matter how you got them, if you would  like to share some of your stories  go ahead.
For me, best I can remember that would be about sixty sutures.

My first three would be when I was four years old.
My brother had his bike upside down spinning the wheels with the pedals.
I decide to poke a stick in the spinning spokes, bad idea, it caught the end of my finger.

It almost cut it off, was just hanging by a thin piece of skin.
Went into the house to show my mom, she screamed, didn't understand why she was so upset.

The last twenty six  I had would be from some back surgery  ten months ago.
And go...........
If you have pics and want to post that's up to you.

No sutures, staples though, in my head I hit myself in the head with the claw of a hammer 2 staples on an iced head. It was only itchy.

Probably a few dozen.

No cool stories about them. Mostly just cuts on my arms or hands, that I had to report to employers who wouldn't let me super glue shut

[#3]
Enough that the only one I had to let a DR. remove was a cross mattress sutre.

Nothing serious - I've been stitched up twice, both were only three stitches each.
One was when I was a kid riding my bicycle no hands right into a car and punched a hole in my knee.

The other was when I was drying a drinking glass and it broke with my hand shoved down into it and it sliced my index finger to the bone.

Well over 100. I lost count years ago. Mainly stupid cuts from my razor sharp knives. Also working with metal in a machine shop you get good knicks all the time.

Hundreds. Probably almost 1000

300 club.......

Couple dozen.

I probably got more from the vet who came to the farm to tend to the horses than I got by stopping in to the hospital.

At least the vet made frequent visits, so it was more likely I'd see him.

I'm a weenie; only got about 7 total.  4 on one cut (razor-sharp machete just brushed across the forearm), don't remember what the other one was but the Dr. left one in, had to cut it out myself.
6/28/2015 6:51:41 PM EDT
[#10]
A dozen or so.

I tended to break things instead of getting cut.
6/28/2015 6:53:02 PM EDT
[#11]
141 when I went through a glass door by accident.

14 staples when I got my appendix out.

A few when I got my right wisdom teeth removed (still have my left).

[#12]
Chain link fence vs. wrist
Chin vs. gravel at bike speed
Hammer vs. head
Fist vs. Brow
Rock vs. Head
Finger vs. Broadhead pulled from target
Hand vs. Grinder
Shin vs. Something jaggedy at bike speed
Knee vs. Chainsaw
Surgical sutures don't count.

conservatively at least 700 give or take.
6/28/2015 9:10:46 PM EDT

<100

guess around 75 total..

Not including surgery I'm north of about 100 in 42 years. Most at one time was 30ish. They knew me by name at the ER till I was about 22, lol.

No idea, but probably a lot.  Last few closures were done with a couple boxes of stables (39 & 43) and glue.  I got cuts and gashes as a kid, but the real bonanza is all in my muscles and internal organs and I have no clue how many sutures were used.  Probably lots my innards have been sliced and diced a few times and my surgeon put in an acre of surgical mesh the last time I was opened up.  My belly looks like I lost a sword fight.

108 or so, mostly staples.

8 or 9 times getting stitches. I think the most at one time was probably 12-15.

I don't how many stitches I've had in 52 years. I do know that this fiasco took 8 inside and 8 outside to temporarily close the wound. Several days and 10k later they repaired the severed tendons and nerves with 16 more stitches to close it up.

6/28/2015 9:41:23 PM EDT
[#20]
Probably close to 70, plus 12 staples.
6/28/2015 9:45:10 PM EDT

Between cuts and surgeries, a LOT. Maybe 300? Lots of staples too.

Deep sutures in my face, not many, but needed a plastic surgeon to close the wound when I face planted on pavement when I crashed my bike.

Had 10-12 staples in my head.

Four in my eye ball.

Never counted.  Been stitched on 8 occasions that I can remember.

Head, eyebrow, finger, stomach, ankle, ankle, ankle, mouth.

took 5 to close a gash I opened on my leg as a kid... Do NOT take a bag of garbage out to the can with a can lid in it. To this day I bend up can lids and put them back inside the can they came from.

I had a few to close up the cut when they took out my appendix and then I had I think it was 10 staples when they took out 16 inches of descending colon. I think there was 1 suture in each of the 3 holes that they had drains coming out of. I have a picture somewhere but I don't think you all want to see it.

My finger had to be stitched because of a can lid.  Have the same complex with them now.

They were very small, two inside, two outside, to close a hole from a thumb tack.

I have a sagittal suture on my head. Had it ever since I was born.

Also got sutures in boot camp after a recruit ran in front of me and the wing on the FSB on my M16 sliced my eye.

Also got sutures on my foot from surgery when I dislocated all 5 metatarsals and broke 3 of them.

More staples here than sutures. Only sutures I've had were when the footpeg on my dirt bike scooped a big chunk of meat out of my inner ankle. Should have been wearing my riding boots.

My body looks like Frankenstein's monster. But, mainly staples. Incisions on the left hip (about 20 staples), lateral right ankle (about 15 staples), superior right ankle (15 staples), right iliac crest for bone graft for right ankle (about ten staples), sternum to below navel for diaphragm surgery (25 or so), big two inch in diameter one for gall bladder removal (20 or so) (they couldn't do laproscopic surg due to previous injuries and adhesions), and a small wound closure when I was younger got two stitches. The ankle was re-opened and 7 screws removed and a plate removed, so it had to be re-sutured) and my left hip had to be opened a second time to replace two loose screws and also place a wire. The wire truly hurt.

5 in between my 2nd and 3rd to on my left foot
37 in left elbow where a piece of metal that the mower my dad was driving got picked up,and tossed at me
8 in each knee for acl surgeries
6 for an ankle surgery
6 on my knuckles
Liquid stitches on my forehead from working at a glass factory
Two pins in my left arm when I broke all three bones in it from a fall
I just turned 30 so I'm sure there will be more. Life is hard, get a helmet.

Hmm, I think I had sutures for my knee arthroscopy.  And I had my tonsils out as a kid, so I think they used sutures on that.

I'm gonna say twice.  I've never gone to the doctor because of a cut, even when it would have benefited from sutures.

My brother did the same thing, bike upside down.
I was 3 or so, brother was 6, oldest brother who was spinning pedals was 8, 6 Y.O. brother about had 2 fingers cut off. He got his fingers run through the sprocket under the chain.
I remember going to Drs.-- he stitched  him up, told him 'You don't stop crying right now, I won't sew them up and I'll feed them to my cats.' Christmas 1963.

I had surgery on my eye muscles to correct crossed-eyes (mostly ). I could feel the stitches when I closed my eyes and move them around, but they weren't uncomfortable. The blood leaking from my eye was pretty cool as an 11 y/o.

I guess I had stitches for my wisdom teeth. And ones I removed myself when I got snipped. As a kid I just used compression and butterflies or a tight dressing.
