How many have you had in your lifetime?
Doesn't matter how you got them, if you would like to share some of your stories go ahead. For me, best I can remember that would be about sixty sutures. My first three would be when I was four years old. My brother had his bike upside down spinning the wheels with the pedals. I decide to poke a stick in the spinning spokes, bad idea, it caught the end of my finger. It almost cut it off, was just hanging by a thin piece of skin. Went into the house to show my mom, she screamed, didn't understand why she was so upset. The last twenty six I had would be from some back surgery ten months ago. And go........... If you have pics and want to post that's up to you. |

Nothing serious - I've been stitched up twice, both were only three stitches each. One was when I was a kid riding my bicycle no hands right into a car and punched a hole in my knee.
The other was when I was drying a drinking glass and it broke with my hand shoved down into it and it sliced my index finger to the bone. |

| No idea, but probably a lot. Last few closures were done with a couple boxes of stables (39 & 43) and glue. I got cuts and gashes as a kid, but the real bonanza is all in my muscles and internal organs and I have no clue how many sutures were used. Probably lots my innards have been sliced and diced a few times and my surgeon put in an acre of surgical mesh the last time I was opened up. My belly looks like I lost a sword fight. |
took 5 to close a gash I opened on my leg as a kid... Do NOT take a bag of garbage out to the can with a can lid in it. To this day I bend up can lids and put them back inside the can they came from.
I had a few to close up the cut when they took out my appendix and then I had I think it was 10 staples when they took out 16 inches of descending colon. I think there was 1 suture in each of the 3 holes that they had drains coming out of. I have a picture somewhere but I don't think you all want to see it. |

My finger had to be stitched because of a can lid. Have the same complex with them now. |

I have a sagittal suture on my head. Had it ever since I was born. Also got sutures in boot camp after a recruit ran in front of me and the wing on the FSB on my M16 sliced my eye. Also got sutures on my foot from surgery when I dislocated all 5 metatarsals and broke 3 of them. |

Four in my eye ball. That would suck. I'm glad I've never had any there. They were very small, two inside, two outside, to close a hole from a thumb tack. That would still suck. I don't like eyeball stuff. |

My body looks like Frankenstein's monster. But, mainly staples. Incisions on the left hip (about 20 staples), lateral right ankle (about 15 staples), superior right ankle (15 staples), right iliac crest for bone graft for right ankle (about ten staples), sternum to below navel for diaphragm surgery (25 or so), big two inch in diameter one for gall bladder removal (20 or so) (they couldn't do laproscopic surg due to previous injuries and adhesions), and a small wound closure when I was younger got two stitches. The ankle was re-opened and 7 screws removed and a plate removed, so it had to be re-sutured) and my left hip had to be opened a second time to replace two loose screws and also place a wire. The wire truly hurt.

I was 3 or so, brother was 6, oldest brother who was spinning pedals was 8, 6 Y.O. brother about had 2 fingers cut off. He got his fingers run through the sprocket under the chain. I remember going to Drs.-- he stitched him up, told him 'You don't stop crying right now, I won't sew them up and I'll feed them to my cats.' Christmas 1963. |

I had surgery on my eye muscles to correct crossed-eyes (mostly ). I could feel the stitches when I closed my eyes and move them around, but they weren't uncomfortable. The blood leaking from my eye was pretty cool as an 11 y/o.
I guess I had stitches for my wisdom teeth. And ones I removed myself when I got snipped. As a kid I just used compression and butterflies or a tight dressing. |
2 staples on an iced head. It was only itchy.
