Haven't ever been there, but I have talked to some of the local residents on the ham radio a couple times.

It's the last warning station to tell ships to turn back before they fall off the north edge. Retired viking hard-asses live up there, run the giant ship-warning bonfire, and steal lunch money from the polar bears and penguins.
