I'm still alive.

I'm about to begin my 4th week here at Infantry Training Battalion. It's going pretty good, except for being threatened to get dropped yesterday because I rolled my ankle pretty bad... Other than that, it's not so bad.

They tried to make me a 0352, and I said Nnnnnnnnno... Then they wanted me to be an 0331 (which I don't mind so much), but I said Nnnnnnnno... So they made me an 0311, and I'm a happy panda.

That, and the 240G is heavy.

When I was at SOI, one of the 31's humped a MK19 on the 15k march on a dare from one of the instructors. Guy was 5'6" and huge. Big time weight lifter.

The MK19 is around 75lbs. without the tripod.

My body is pretty much falling apart, that's one reason why I would rather have stuck with 0311 instead.

I "could" take the 0331 load on hikes... But I wouldn't be very effective afterwards.

When I was in the Army we went in as 11-X and they picked for you what type of grunt you were. ?Thankfully I got 11-b

No, it's because humping the pig is no fun.

"Humping the pig" = Carrying the machine gun. The guy humping the pig is always the slowest guy in the squad.

Yeah 52's are TOW's, I'm a 51 though. Assaultman, I'm a "breacher". I get to use the MK153 SMAW and some various explosives for breaching and obsticle clearing. The next few weeks should be entertaining.
