And likely an out of shape and not terribly motivated NFL team.  Even pro players usually worked a job in the off season back then and had to lose weight and build their endurance back.   Neither team likely went at each other wide open.

The top 1% of college players.  The speed difference across a whole team is definitely noticeable, like it is between Division 1 and 1AA.

The problem with an all star team is the lack of cohesion and practice reps as a team.

I think putting the best college team up against the worst "elite" NFL team would either prove or disprove the notion that NFL teams are inherently superior to any college team. Set it up so the college players get a $50k or $100k payout, each, if they win... and it comes out of the salary cap from the losing NFL team. Basically, make it add insult to injury for the worst NFL team.

I don't hate Notre Dame. I just consider them to be an inferior team that plays other inferior teams, has no strength of schedule, no championship game, no talent, and no place being ranked in the top 25.

Notre Dame, as a team, is basically a large scale "Rudy". I feel sorry for them.

It wouldn't even be close, NFL team would win by 4+ TD's without even trying on offense.  Most people don't realize how much better line play is in the NFL, and how much quicker/faster these guys are...it would be brutal to see how much time a pro defense would spend in the backfield on any college line.

The idea is interesting, but I still think the worst NFL team wins if both teams are not in exhibition match mode.  I’d like to see it too out of curiosity but I doubt owners would take the risk of injuring the pro players.

Even into the eighties many players didn’t train hard in the off season.  Walter Payton and Jerry Rice are two I remember who were famous for their post season training, but I remember newspaper articles every year before the NFL season started talking about how overweight key players were.  If I remember correctly, the last college-NFL games were played until the early or mid seventies.

UGA absolutely deserves that.  Until the coaching staff decides to pull its offensive head out of its ass, its going to struggle.  I watched the Kentucky game (offense only) again the other evening, and the play calling is beyond absurd.  Coley's insistence on trying to stay between the tackles with the running game is such a head shaker that it almost seems purposeful, as though he's only trying to kill the clock.  75-80+ % of the runs between the tackles were gains for 3 or fewer yards, whereas stretch plays to the outside were successful for positive yardage better than 60-70% of the time.  Virtually the only time they didn't have success outside was running to the short side of the field.  Plus, there were no toss sweeps, no counters, no reverses, or anything else that would keep the defense out of the box.  It was an absolute continuation of the play calling from South Carolina, so basically 4 quarters of slamming your hand in a car door expecting a different outcome.

I can imagine Florida's defense is highly motivated for this game, especially if the play calling remains as pedestrian as it was with South Carolina and Kentucky.  That being said, Fromm has had good success against Florida the last two years, as has the running game.  That's the key, Florida has to be able to stop the running game first....and they have to be productive against Georgia's defense, which is likely better overall than anything they have faced this year.  Florida still has some issues running the ball, so it may come down to Trask.

Should be a great game, I'm interested in seeing what the line will be.
