(Though I tend to believe that MOST players who reach NCAA D1 football level have used PEDs for a least a little bit). My guess is that Venables thinks that super tough practices will make the team tough. I’m betting that he lets the D go full steam against the O in camp, and that’s one reason why OU WRs and OL are consistently injured preseason. While there is something to that idea (Saban’s players said on more than 1 occasion that the practices were harder than the actual games), the game has changed enough that this doesn’t work in modern day college football. Just 10 years ago, a coach had a player by the balls and successful transfers were extremely rare. Nowdays? Piss a kid off and he can leave at any point. As always, I know nothing and these are just my (probably incorrect) suppositions. |

I know this may seem a bit out of the ordinary, but I’ve been offered the opportunity to coach a 7v7 flag football team. What would I be getting into here? I think it could be an interesting challenge. I’m familiar with plays, schemes, and training. Just wondering if anyone else has spent time around 7v7 FF and what your experience has been. |

It’s the egos that would throw a wrench into that approach. I’m going to find out a bit more and go from there. I’m in Florida so it’s big down here. Still doing rugby stuff but this may be a new challenge to take on. Thanks guys. |

Wake Forest was 9-4 and beat two of the top 5 teams in the ACC last season. They re top 10 in returning starters and have upgraded at some key positions. To describe them as a "weak team" is erroneous. Furthermore, the fact that they are apparently in the bottom half of the ACC is tacitly admitting that the top half of the ACC is pretty good. That's beside the point. My contention is that the rankings are garbage. I don't give a damn where the CANES are ranked and neither should anyone else at this point. I think preseason rankings are stupid. I think teams should be ranked at midseason based on objective observable factors, the most important of which should be beating good teams. So we agree it's way too soon for any rankings. |

I would have a staff. I have a good relationship with the AD. I have been watching the team over the past two years. It’s been frustrating watching the decision making and lack of development. I’m used to coaching college and adults playing the US national team. I’d have to adjust expectations but I also think I could help develop athletes and young adults in reaching their potential. The program has been missing this. The team will be rebuilding this year. The QB is ok but bad attitude (blames everyone else). Better runner than passer so there may be a position change in their future or we would incorporate more RPO to play towards their strengths. It’s crazy how many scholarships are being offered for HS flag football athletes. It’s really blowing up. LA28 has a bit to do with that for sure. |
