Welcome to about 2 years ago, dipshit.

Put in Miserable Failure and you get the exact same thing.

The trick is possible because Google searches more than just the contents of web pages - it also counts how often a site is linked to, and with what words.

Thus, members of an online community can affect the results of Google searches - called "Google bombing" - by linking their sites to a chosen one.

Google doesn't have control over what the results come up as. If a bunch of people link "Miserable Failure" to GWB's biography, Google is going to rank it as the best pick because of it having the most links to that site.

This dates back before the 2004 elections.

I would say as far back as 2002 or earlier.

I read somewhere on the interweb that a few people can manipulate search results by doing something called "google bombing". I don't know what that is because my internet is for shopping for  military gear and looking at porn only, but apparently the Bush-failure thing is the result of a google bomb.

I guess I should have read the thread before posting. Disregard

Its not google doing it. It is a bunch of leftist wackos that put the text into their web pages in such a way that the words get cached and noted so it comes up in a search. Hence the term google-bombing. They are bombing the search engine with key words that they want to relate to something - in this case to say that Pres. Bush is a failure.

It is important to understand that it is not google saying bush is a failure
