I'm a police officer in California and am issued a level II concealable vest for patrol.

I want to purchase a higher level threat vest to put in my trunk, in case it is needed.  I've looked around and am looking at either a Second Chance JAC or a Safariland Cover 6 vest.

Im looking for any LEO's that have any experience with these types of vests and could help lend some information on them. (preferences, fit, price, and where to purchase).

Thanks.

You could opt for two "chicken plates" (ceramic plates) in a carrier. That would give you protection from rifles. JUst a thought.

I have my duty level IIa on me. In my trunk I have a level IIIa with level III plates. I picked it up
at different times and dont have $450 in it. I bought the plates off the equipment exchgange on this
site. Look arournd alot of the millitary stuff is floating around, make sure it is the the interceptor
series. Check E bay. There have been some outstandingh deals on plates lately. If buying armor
used stay away from zylon or spectra. A lot of peeps are dumping it now.
