It's on my list of places to visit. Been in the area, but was driving the WK2 instead of the SRT-4. But, I have been up and down Pike's Peak with it.

Been there a couple times, while the dragon is fun....I enjoyed some of the other roads in the area better....Cherohala Skyway is awesome. The dragon feels like riding a rollercoaster that you're in control of.

Worked and lived at Fontana Resort summers during college. Had an R6 then an R1 during that time. Rode it almost daily.
One of my friends that worked there was the head of the Formula SAE team at Tennessee Tech at the time and we "borrowed" their car and ripped it across the dragon at night. Line to bridge in just over 12 minutes. If you want to check out some photos or if you drove the dragon and want to maybe find your photo go to KillBoy.com (I'm in no way affiliated with KillBoy). |

I went close to 30 years ago. Was on a 1992 ZX-11. Was a solo spontaneous trip. Got going kind of fast and realized if I went over the edge, I might not be found for years, lol. Really enjoyed it though.
I came across some videos on Youtube a few days ago. Riding the Tail of the Dragon can be extremely dangerous Failed To Load Title |

I worked at a resort not far from there one summer. Would love to go back on a proper bike. First time through was in an old 4Runner.

When we moved down to Tennessee, i hit it by myself of couple of times, in late February, early March. It was fun with no one else on the road.
A few months later my wife and I went to look at a property in Tellico Plains; the property was a bust, but I said we should go ride the Dragon. Big mistake; Thursday in the summer stuck behind mini-vans and guys on Harley's so loaded up with accessories that leaning is not an option. However, took the Cherohala Skyway on the return trip and it always puts a smile on your face. |
Yup. Good times. Did it the first time with a giant hangover.
haven't been, not going out of my way to check it out...
I got enough twisty roads in Guatemala and Colombia |

Quoted: Yup. The snake is good also. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/296599/BA7DD7D3-6B29-4EAD-ACD3-85753B82FD49_jpe-1932869.JPG View Quote This. I’ve ridden the Dragon many times. Last year we rented a cabin in Butler, TN and rode the Snake, the Sidewinder, the Bushwhacker, and a few others. The Snake was my personal favorite. |

Keep your noisy scooters off my mountain. Only quiet turbo cars are allowed.

Yes, four wheels though but I live about 1 1/2 hrs away so......Usually it's the Harley asshats holding everyone up.
Drove a car through their numerous times to get to Fontana Lake and other trailheads in the southern Smokies. Pretty drive, but hate the constant curves. I drove it last december, on a dark rainy and foggy night, trying to get to Robbinsville, NC. Pretty shitty driving experience.
I usually sigh with relief when getting to Deal's Gap. |

I pass through when I'm going to Andersons or the casino. I sold an old camaro and bought a 335 just so I could drive through there. |

yes and its a PITA. Too many morans. Plus, Six Gap is closer and just as fun.
There is a road that runs from Cherokee south into Franklin NC that is plenty curvy I think it is 19 out of
Cherokee to 28 to the Franklin vicinity. |
Never been.
Fortunately for me there are no shortage of good twisties near my house. Even my commute most days had some good backroads. Part of the reason my work truck is lowered and on sticky tires. |
I've been there. Good fun, but I took it easy on my cruiser while crotch rockets passed me.
Yep, done it on a G.W.. a C-A Spyder, two Jeeps, and a Mini. Had an absolute blast. Would do it again. 10ring

Lame parade on the weekend with idiots and RUB's galore.
During the week, early, it's a fun road. But, it's not the only great road in the area, and it's for SURE not the best motorcycle road in the country. Not even close. I guess if you want a Killboy picture of your lame cornering, tho, it's worth the visit on a busy day. |
I have been there many times starting around 1991. Back when I used to date a girl who attended UT in Knoxville I would go almost every weekend and spend my week's vacation there. The Crossroads of Time Motel (whatever it might be called now) was the first Motel we ever spent a night togather in and she hated it because the bathroom had no door and there was no A/C.
Those were the days before little sports car trains and cops everywhere. No one hardly knew it existed and I was able to drag my knees all over that road. But those days are gone. Last time I went it was full of both TN and NC cops doing road blocks. ETA: this is around 1993 Attached File |

Yeah, done that. There are better, less advertised roads in the area.

Lowsided my 250 ninja up there one time. . Driven it a couple times in cars too. Took my wife once and she got sick.
I've been a few times just because friends wanted to go. It's a nice road but too much of a clown show for me. I'll stick to my lesser known favorites.
Watch out for the cops; especially on a weekend or right after they have had a fatality on it.
As previously mentioned, The Cherohala and Foothills Parkway are better rides IMHO. |

Did it once and won’t be back. Too busy and frankly that road is freaking miserable.
Ooo, a twisty road at 30MPH (maybe) driving behind motor homes and fat dentists on Harley Baggers with no suspension travel. With the occasional 18 wheeler coming around corners into your lane.
Cool. Id rather be in the UK behind a bunch or Caravans. |

Had a 07 GSXR600 and 07 R6. Rode it several times in 2008-2010 at Deals Gap. Way too many cars on the weekend and boomers sightseeing. Of course we were all young and dumb, wanting to go fast. Devils Triangle is much better with open turns and nice switchbacks. Push Mountain in AR is highly recommended. Rode a lot of the Pig Trail and Highway 7. Phenomenal! Deals Gap was enjoyable however there are much better roads out there for steady pace ripping without all the Harleys, Goldwings, and cars running over the yellow lane
